To be fair, the truth does in fact hurt them

2012-08-15 08:29:10 AM
So they've finally started acting like Republicans, except Liberals aren't lying.

2012-08-15 08:30:09 AM
Baseless?

You might want to look up the definition of that word, Subby. It'll help you in the future.

Didn't Martha Stewart go to jail for the same kinds of stock deals that Ryan made a lot of money with?

Nothing says "We love freedom" quite like having people silenced, removed or arrested for speaking out against you at a town hall meeting.

2012-08-15 08:54:35 AM
They're not "suggesting" anything subby - they're directly leveling that charge at the opposition, and rightly so. The burden is on Romney to prove the charge wrong, and his continued silence is an indirect admission of guilt.

2012-08-15 08:56:01 AM
"Chicago-style politics" has nothing to do with negative campaigning. It's become just like socialism, another word for "stuff the black guy does".

2012-08-15 09:02:29 AM
Release the tax returns and open up your fundraising events to the public and let them decide.

Yes, this is better, I think.

Diogenes: Release the tax returns and open up your fundraising events to the public and let them decide.

He can't, it would ruin him.

I am betting there was never a year he didn't pay something, but I think it went like this:

He had millions parked overseas, paid no income tax on it, then used the Income Tax Amnesty to amend his returns and not go to prison.

So, he broke the law and committed felonies, made it right to avoid prison and now cannot release that info because it would kill his chances overnight.

McCain has seen all his returns and he isn't screaming from the rooftops that the guy is clean. There is a reason.

He isn't.

That's the whole new level of Chicago politics. The truth.

That's because they are unsympathetic money grubbing extremists, it's the same whine and dance "conservatives" always have, freedom of speech to them also includes freedom from repercussions for their speech.

2012-08-15 09:43:42 AM
Well, let's see....

Rmoney has the mone-grubbing thing down.
Ryan has the extremist thing going for him.
And the entire Tea Party ethos is one of an explicitly unsympathetic, I-got-mine, mentality.

Where's the problem?

2012-08-15 09:43:45 AM
I love that they're trying to run with "Nobody has ever spoken negatively about a candidate before" as their persecution-point during this election. They're hitting it hard from all angles.

If by "Chicago politics" you mean critical observation and reporting of demonstrable facts, well ...then yes. Chicago politics it is.

How many modern Republicans aren't unsympathetic, money-grubbing extremists?

I think that it'd be easier to find a three-headed albino elephant.

In Alaska.

Now this isn't fair. The Republicans are very sympathetic.

The feel vast sympathy for the downtrodden wealthy and the oppressed , suffering corporations.

I love the new "Obama is just so mean!" theme. Should work about as well as the "He's a Muslin!" did last time. While the EV margin won't be as big, this election is even less in doubt than the last one.

2012-08-15 09:50:15 AM
Romney -Ryan want to make being a millionaire a tax exempt status
Want to punish the poor by making them pay for the tax cuts they give the super rich
Want to enslave you to the corporations and set labor rights and working conditions back 100 years.

2012-08-15 09:50:34 AM
As a Chicagoan I have to say that these charges of Obama using Chicago politics are totally off base. Negative campaigning isn't the Chicago way. The Chicago way is to find legal loopholes to suppress the vote of your opponents and exchange money from rich people for political favors. Wait, who is it who is pushing those Voter ID laws and having secret meetings with their richest donors?

Romney: "My campaign is built on a shaky foundation of lies and falsehoods. Attacking me with the truth is hurting my chances, I command you to stop this at once."

It was pretty bad, Republicans like to create multiple accounts and just troll every thread.

Copy and paste entire right wing blogs if they didnt get greenlit.

Havent seen much of it yet, but its still early, see Fark Cons ramping up after the convention.

Especially if polling looks bad for Repubs.

It's true. At least this time both sides can agree that Romney is terrible, even if we disagree on whether or not he should win.

That and the teabaggers are so incompetent they can't brave the waters of the internet to find websites other than freerepublic and the AOL home screen. That's why the "right" is represented almost exclusively by trolls.

Since when has being an unsympathetic moneygrubbing extremist been a bad thing to conservative blogs?
