Whoa, an NFL guy doing something positive? Will this be on TMZ? Will it be a breaking story on ESPN?

Very nice, Mr. Woodley. Now if you could focus on learning how to tackle again.

Positive stories don't bring in the ratings as well as the negative, and that's all news is about anymore.

Suck it, Steeler haters.

if only more athletes put this kind of effort into helping the communities where they grew up. Good on ya, woodley, and here's hoping you have another six years in the NFL so you can continue to help the Saginaw area.

As a Ravens fan even I can respect the guy. Too bad you guys are going to suck this year.

But Farkers keep telling me that only negative things come from football, and that the game is evil.

This offsets my hate of the Steelers caused by Harrison, Rapelsberger, and Retard Mendenhall going into the season. I"m sure they'll do something to go back into everyone's bad graces again.

Followup: Kid gets hurt, parents sue Woodley for enabling the kid to play and get hurt.

Seriously, tho...good on him for "giving back" in a real way.

Had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Woodley at a Michigan HS Fball Coaches Assoc dinner a few years ago and hear about some of his charitable endeavors and of course listen to him talk about football.

School supplies, sports equipment, backpacks, clothing, summer/sports camps...the guy has done A LOT for his hometown (well into six figures) and couldn't have been nicer in person.

BTW, really good public speaker, high energy, very personable...would be not surprised at all to see him on a network after his playing days are over.

Congratulations Parents and care givers of Lamar Woodley, you raised a good man.

No, I've been told they had wall to wall Tim Tebow coverage yesterday for his birthday.

If that's the case...fark ESPN...fark them up their stupid asses.

/Props to LaMarr for doing this

Hats off to this player, but shouldnt this be something the individual franchises should pick up?

NFL is always throwing money to the United Way and punt/pass/kick, why not invest in their "farm" system?

Seems logical to me, someone else must have talked about this previously

Class move.

/God, I hate liking a Steeler.

Well, dammit, as a die hard Bengals fan I can only sit back and wish my organization had any 5 people that could measure up to the classy moves of this one Steeler.

Good on ya, Woodley! You gained a fan today.

Seems like Michigan does a fair job and instilling good works into many of their players. Woodley, Woodson, Edwards, and many others have been uber-charitable in their playing careers.

It does seem odd to me that some of the middle trier guys have such excellent records of doing real good with their charitable foundations. Especially when some of the superstars foundations are such jokes. Why yes, I'm talking about you Shaun Alexander and Sammy Sosa.

Because they aren't deluded enough to think that they are purely and solely responsible for where they are at in life. They actually care about what their foundation does and are actively involved in them. It's also interesting to note that a lot of the more positive stories come from former big ten players.
