I think in an old wrestling thread, we went through the best campaign ads her opponent could come up with...

*spooky omniscient announcer man*

Linda McMahon claims to embrace family values

*shot of the McMahon family*

But are these the kinds of family values we want to be teaching our children?

*footage of Vince and Shane's bloody brawl, Linda slapping Stephanie, Vince making out with Trish Stratus while Linda sits comatose and watches*

Family values... maybe if you're the Manson family.

*paid for by the Democrat guy who's going to win*

I can't wait for Trish Status to get involved.

Linda McMahon says she won't be controlled by any big business interests in Washington...

*Linda campaigning*

Linda McMahon says she can't be bought.

*Video of the Million Dollar Man making Linda bark like a dog for a hundred dollars*

If she'll bark like a dog for a few measly dollars, just think of what she will do to you for all the money lobbyists are throwing around in Washington?

*paid for by Democrat guy whose election is in the bag

She is her own stimulus package 61 million dollars so far of her own money on running for public office, and she hasn't won a seat yet. And, with luck, she never will.

As a guy who lives in Connecticut, I think part of the reason she has such high unfavorable ratings is because she media-carpetbombed the state with her money the last time around. There were non-stop television ads, radio ads and guys in trucks with bullhorns telling people to vote for McMahon.

She's damaged her brand because she spent so much, not in spite of it.

/Live not far from McMahon - she can shove it.

This. And she's f*cking doing it again. Every commercial break is either an attack on Murphy or the 'OMG LINDA'S PLAN!!" And it's been like that for weeks now. There's the LINDA'S OUT SHOPPING AGAIN billboard on 95 near Bridgeport which is making fun of it.

The thing that bugs me most about the LInda's Plan commercials is that she seems to be running a gubernatorial campaign instead of a senatorial one. Yeah, she can have all the plans she wants, but a first term junior senator isn't going to be able to implement it. It's fluff.

You know if she fails with this campaign, she's going to be running against Malloy next.

Linda McMahon is running again?! There is no likelihood, even under the worst of circumstances, of her winning a Senate seat? She has...well, what is it? How's the expression go, when you won't get what you want in any likelihood, even under the worst of circumstances?

I want to see a campaign ad that uses the footage of Linda getting Tombstoned by Kane.

This is a shame. I almost registered as a republican so I could vote for Shays (who is a reasonable guy whom I could see supporting in the general election). McMahon deserves to get clobbered in the general election, although I think it's far from a foregone conclusion.

I just hope this leads to Jon Stewart doing his Lieberman voice.

The commercials were just plain weird, too. No talk of issues or goals, just bizarre things like interviews with her best friends who tell us what a nice person she is. It was like she was running for prom queen of COnnecticut.

2012-08-15 09:55:35 AM
Also from Connecticut I am finding her ads turning me off a bit, its almost like she is trying to sell what we want to hear not what she is actually going to do. And it makes me not trust her. I however would love to see any of the above referenced ADs.

On an unrelated note, i didnt pay attention but did the Creapy guy who I've never heard of whos ads "has a job plan" get defeated? I just got a feeling his job plan involved inapproperate contact with children and small animals. He really creeped me out but i cant put my finger on why. Dan something or other

Honestly, I think this has less to do with the tea party than it does her being willing to throw a boatload of her own money at the campaign. Connecticut is kinda weird with their elections and the Republicans probably consider this to be an uphill battle anyway. They probably figured that letting McMahon have another go will let them raise funds for more important things, and winning would just be a bonus.

Nope, a regular one. There was an article in the Post about how Sen. Blumenthal was touring the printing shop the day that was being made and he signed it.

You know if she fails with this campaign, she's going to be running against Malloy next.

Probably. I was kind of surprised she went for senate last time instead of governor.

The tea party doesn't really have much influence here. McMahon is probably too liberal for them any way.

By kind of weird you mean trying to ballance being fiscally conservative and quality of life issues without blatently discriminating against entire population groups, then yes sadly, kind of weird.

Well, yeah. I'm down in Maryland now, where there is no issue other than who can steal the most before getting out the door. Politics with nuance seems strange these days.

I am however supprised that we didnt see Lamont again this time around. I would have liked to see him get another shot. I feel kind of sad voting for Liberman last time around but I didnt realise that he was totally insane at that point. Didnt think it was worth getting rid of a senior senator for a jr senator at that point of whom was bucking the system a bit, but at least had logic to what he was saying (dont pull out of iraq overnight and leave a power vacuum in its place, we started the mess, create a real plan to end it)

What percentage of her wealth came from her ability to pick the right person to give a blow job to?

She spent 50 mil of her own money in 2010 only to lose.

So far she's spent over 11 million to quash her GOP competitor and now she's going up against Chris Murphy who has a slight lead over her in early polling.

I really hope she wastes another huge whack of coin only to lose again.

That would would be great.

/Meh, even if she wins at least Loserman will still be gone.

To be fair, Linda has always handled the business side while Vince handled creative and personnel. It's possible Vince would've gone broke without her.

Tell that to the thousands of veterans who are benefiting from the Post 9/11 GI Bill sponsored by Senator Jim Webb during the first YEAR of his first (and only) term in the Senate.

That bill, btw, was signed into law over the objections of John McCain and after a veto threat from Bush.

Because they support our troops, but not if it's gonna cost any money.

I have no idea why he didn't decide to run for re-election. Probably because it's a terrible job and he had to work with terrible people, but still. We need more senators like him.
