Why Nancy Pelosi and the 111th Congress passed many bills and this Republican House can't is simple: Republican can't govern.

/Don't forget 2001-2008, people.
//Who needs more of the same incompetence from back then?

Doug Heye, a spokesman for House Majority Leader Eric Cantor, R-Va., defended the chamber, citing over 30 economic measures the House has passed that have fizzled in the Democratic-run Senate "at the behest of a president who is presiding over the worst economic recovery in history."

this whole time i knew it was those asshole democrats in the senate, i just KNEW it! after all, simple majority is all it takes in that chamber, amirite?

Just 61 bills have become law to date in 2012 out of 3,914 bills that have been introduced by lawmakers

Well good, we have too many damn laws as it is. It's like quotas for cops; what would they do if everybody just started following every single traffic law? No more money for police! Hell, no more need. Just keep the few around that were driving to burglary and vandalism sites and making reports.

My point is, when you drive home from work today, make sure you speed and run a few stop signs. You are a job creator.

As best as I can recall, declaring a do-nothing Congress worked out pretty well for Truman in the end. If Obama wants to get re-elected and get his party back in the majority, he'd do the same.

in before we get it they a white people.

Not true. Just look at all those job-creating abortion bills the House has sent through.

They cried a lot and feigned outrage almost daily. That's doing stuff.

It's not surprising, given their belief that all problems everywhere stem from governance.

Considering Romney's non stop whining about how mean Obama is being I am reminded of this....

Whilst in Harrisburg, Illinois, Truman delivered a speech attacking the Republicans. During the speech a supporter yelled out "Give 'em Hell, Harry!". Truman replied, "I don't give them Hell. I just tell the truth about them and they think it's Hell."

Stopping bad laws from passing is just as important as passing good laws.

This is a victory for America!

What, is subby saying that 44 unsuccessful attempts to repeal ACA is "less than nothing"?

Rape wand legislation?

Defunding women's health services?

Voter suppression ...er ID laws?

C'mon now. The 112th Congress is gittin' her done!

Yes. That is the main reason we are in the mess we are in.

That and because Reid is such an obstructionist.

Given the Derp that the House keeps passing... yes, I'm actually rather glad not much is getting through.

2012-08-15 11:06:53 AM
And my Republican representative, after handily winning his primary, is 99% likely to win reelection despite a "60 Minutes" exposé showing him to have been insider trading while being a ranking member of the House Committee on Financial Services.

Yay...

Main reason? MAIN reason? So, two trillion dollar wars kept off the books until the Obama Administration, tax-cuts DURING those wars, reduced regulations that caused the housing crisis had less to do with it? Instead, you're going to go with the 3-6 months the Democrats had a majority as the reason for the mess.

You're either a ridiculous partisan biatch or a complete moran.

Yup, between the hoops to get Franken seated and then Kennedy's death, it was a mighty small window.

And that's only if you pretend Joe Lieberman is a Democrat.

In 2010, the GOP ran on the platform of creating jobs. It was heavily promoted to the public and they said it would be the first thing they would handle. Shortly after getting into office they were quick to state that their number one priority would be to remove Obama from office. So to those who voted for the fake conservatives in the GOP in 2010... how are all those jobs they created working for you?

Yeah, wasn't it awful when the Senate Democrats stated that their top priority wasn't fixing the economy but just to remove their opponents' leader from office?

How's your back, btw? I imagine that Pinocchio nose of yours must keep you hunched over.

Oh, just wait. We're projected (last I read it was October) to hit the debt ceiling again this fall which will trigger another debt ceiling fight mid-election.

Who was one of the chief Congressmen to have caused the "Grand Bargain" to fall through and the US's credit rating to be downgraded, again?

Especially -- and sorry for the double post, but I had "add comment" before I was ready -- in light of the deal that passed, along with sequestration and the "fiscal cliff".

In the Senate, Republicans use the so-called Filibuster as a Denial of Service attack on America, preventing anything from getting through.

In the House, Republicans control all, listening to no one else, and they spend all their time writing anti-woman laws.

We need a purge.

But, if we keep women in the kitchen and on their backs, there'll be plenty of jobs for white men.

Me too, all the anti-women bills are making me vote for Obama. GET OUT OF MY VAGINA!

What the hell happened to my party? It's not fiscally conservative anymore and has gone pants on head retarded lately for evangelicals.

It's also become a "Don't change anything! Nothing is wrong! Really! Let's ignore all the problems!" party.
