I, for one, welcome our topless overlords.

Why not just legalize it? Hell that would save some people over in the strip club thread some money and angst.

Damn! I knew those O.W.I.'s from 10 or so years back would come and bite me in the ass, but I never had a decent reason to go to Canada before this!

Somehow, I don't think that's the real reason, boobmitter.

That's what they did, they changed the parks code that required a permit in the first place so that it doesn't anymore. Basically, they got tired of dealing with it.

Probably only exhibitionists would want to go topless anyway, not that there's anything wrong with that.

they have started issuing permits to topless groups before they even apply for them

Reminds me of the U.S. government's attitude towards REAL ID. States that had no intention of complying got approvals of their nonexistent requests for extension of time to comply.

It is, thank you Gwen Jaccobs.

In the 10+ years since the ruling (about women being allowed to go topless) I've seen 2 women take advantage of it. I wish they had not.

I know what you're thinking, but don't do it.

I, too, would like to officially grant advance permission to all topless groups.

On second thought...

I look at this differently: Brilliant Canadians come up with plan to get sluts to go around with their tits hanging out for everyone to look at.

And how closely can you look at them? Are you allowed to take pictures? Is rubbing yourself still against the law? :(

2012-08-15 08:18:09 AM
Holy shiat. Politicians that follow the laws instead of trying to push their religious dogma down everyone's throat and wasting tax payer money trying (and failing) to defend themselves in court.

I'm so proud not to be American sometimes.

I, for one, doubt that 1 in 10 will be the perky pair one hopes for.

The type of women who go to topless rallies? You don't want that.

This is a smart move. By making it not naughty there might be less of them.

It's legal to be topless in New York. Here (NSFW) is a book club that reads topless in Central Park and around town. There's also a woman who has been walking around town topless lately and doing a bunch of interviews and generally informing folks that it's a legal option.

Anything that moves us further away from the mentality that created burkas is fine by me.

/The childish "ewww cooties" nonsense is childish.

I ran into the Naked News crew downtown last week (or the week before), was a nice change from the usual Queen St people watching...

1) It's legal in Ontario
2) Chris Rock lied to you about the champagne room

Well, I know where I'll be on the 26th. ;)

i'm sure I'm biting here, but I go topless as much as I can in a friendly environment, and I'm also an exhibitionist in particular circumstances. They are completely unrelated. Requests by friends for me to remove my top usually receive a "No, I go topless to be comfortable not uncomfortable. Your drooling makes me uncomfortable"

2012-08-15 09:06:25 AM
Came here to say it's already legal in Ontario, but I see that's been uncovered.

/and you just have to know where to go to enjoy the good views.

I know more about that than I've mentioned but I was trying to drum up empathy for the girl from a non prude female perspective. Fark is too cliquey to know if it worked. Oh well. I feel a bit like I relapsed, coming out of lurk mode, but with the day I have ahead I wasn't sleeping last night anyhow.

That was refreshing, a never more obvious group of suicide girl wannabies but much more refreshing then the typical Ottawa topless encounter for sure.

/unfortunately its always the ones you don't wanna see doing it that are doing it here

It's all in the way you phrase it honey. "Sally, you're welcome to go topless here" will get the shirt off. "Sally, why's your shirt on, get those tits out" will not.

People get used to bare breasts a lot more quickly than one would think, though eyes lock on my chest the moment someone says "it's getting chilly in here."
We'd probably have more toplessness in T.O. if it wasn't too damn cold 8 months of the year.

Sally, you're welcome to go completely nude and wallow in jello here. Not telling you to, just sayin' we're open-minded about that sort of thing.

I was working@ canada's wonderland the summer after the case was finished, worked the sky flyer. Had a couple women ask if they could go topless. They weren't, but I'm not even sure why they would, sreing as they had to wear a hang gliding harness on the ride that would have rubbed them raw

When I was overseas pretty much every woman was topless on the beach of all age groups, yes even pre-teen and teenage girls. The first few weeks of summer I was like a kid in a candy store observing so many exposed breasts on such beautiful woman with the forbidden fruit aspect of the teenage girls only heightening the experience. By the time summer was over the excitement factor was all but gone and even 20 years later the sight of breasts outside of an impending sexual encounter is not sexually arousing to me. I think if we were not so prudish here in the USA the sight of breasts would not be a sexual issue in the long run.

I did not know that. Off to Wikipedia!

Interesting.
