(Toronto Star)   After being caught reading behind the wheel, while driving on the expressway, Toronto's mayor apologized wholeheartedly. Just kidding, he said: "I'm busy" [with dumbass photo]   (thestar.com) divider line 70

Being a total coont was the centerpiece of his campaign. However, having a total coont as a mayor is proving to be not nearly as much of a positive as some had envisioned.

Toronto mayors have a long and splendid history of driving into things.

Heck, they named the main square of the city after one such hizzhonour.

Story goes he drank, drove, got into a car accident and successfully sued the makers of the car.

That company? Ford.

True story.

This idiot makes me want to move back to TO just so I can vote against him in the next election.

2012-08-15 05:47:15 AM
Reminds me of former mayor of Columbus, OH, Tom Moody. He caused a severe wreck on night while driving at 3am or so. His office denied intoxication, but it came out that he had tested way over the legal limit at the hospital. He ended up claiming that he often drove around late at night "to inspect the city."

This inspired a local bumper sticker reading, "I'm not drunk, I'm inspecting the city."

What an arrogant twatwaffle. FTFA: In July 2011, Ottilie Mason said she saw Rob Ford illegally using his cellphone while driving; after she and her 6-year-old daughter gave him a thumbs-down gesture, she said, he gave them the finger. Ford called the incident a "misunderstanding" ...

Flipping off a 6-year-old? Stay classy, Mr. Mayor.

I'm not sure the fark filters will allow me to express my hatred towards the mayor. Calling Ford a total coont is an insult to total coonts everywhere.

/I miss the simpleness of Mel Lastman.

Back in the days of Mayor Mel I maintained that Toronto elects mayors based on there entertainment potential. I thought that Ford would be a bad mayor but I didn't think that he would be this entertaining. He still hasn't risen to Lastman's level of international jackassery.

he's the hero Mayor that Gotham Toronto deserves, but not the one it needs right now. So we'll hunt him. Because he can take it. Because he's not our hero.

A 63-year-old woman was charged with careless driving after being caught reading a book on the 401

Ford is an unbelievably incompetent idiot. I can deal with severe austerity and the "fark the social services" mentality if it's coming from someone who is at least politically competent, like Doug Holyday (a jerk, but a smart jerk). But Ford...he just doesn't have any idea what's going on in his own city. He's that dim.

There was a story about him on the campaign trail that set off warning bells for me. He went to a dinner at the Mandarin Buffet on Yonge to thank some of the prominent Chinese-Canadians for their support. He insisted on ordering in a roast beef dinner for himself. At the owner's restaurant. This is not a duck heart and chicken feet authentic kind of place; Ford is a man who seriously finds sweet-and-sour chicken balls too "ethnic."

Nobody like that has any business running Toronto.

wasn't a passenger. he said in an interview he was driving. they were both doing 70kmh, he rolled down passenger window, took shot with his phone.

dont get me wrong, mayor is a putz, but i'd sure rather have a well intentioned putz than Vaughan.

he needs a driver.

i'm just saying it would have been funny if the gut who took the photo who was trying to get the mayor in trouble was the only one who got a ticket.

just getting sick of the recent trend of taking photos of city workers, ttc driver etc.. if you see something doing something wrong and you ar genuinely concerned then call the cops. otherwise STFU.

I don't think that excuse would fly with the average traffic cop. If you can be busted for DUI while sleeping in the back of you car, you should certainly be responsible for your vehicle while in the drivers seat with the engine running on the roads.

All right, I will give you that one, he should have had a much better plan in place 2 years into his term. His largest mandate was to reducing spending, and he has managed that fairly well. I vote for politicians based on the one that I least object to these days....Jaded. He qualifies in my book as and "Honest" politician, which doesn't happen often.

He's broken quite a few of his campaign promises. I wouldn't call him an honest politician by any stretch.

He's not honest. How about him lying about his DUI arrest in Florida until someone got a hold of his mugshot? Then there's the whole incident with him berating and threatening people at a Leaf game while stinking drunk - denied it till witness came forward. He's honest as long as it benefits him.

He's the suburban mayor and has done nothing for you.

You mean his "trimming the fat" where the consultants he paid 3 million dollars basically concluded that we couldn't make budget cuts without cutting services, which was completely contradictory to his campaign promise? That mandate?

Rob Ford is the Tea Party wet dream - force a budgetary crisis by cutting the vehicle tax, then use that as leverage to cut funding to programs he doesn't like (i.e. everything but police), only to find out there's a surplus after all, so he can pretend to be generous by letting some of it go back to the places he cut.

Rob Ford is the epitome of Tea Party Boomer selfishness - I got mine, now screw you.

Ok, that's bullshiat. His whole campaign was that he was going to "stop the gravy train" - he was convinced there was so much fat in the budget he could cut spending without touching services. Come the KPMG report and it turns out there's almost nothing that can be cut and we get into a big conversation about whether we really need school crossing guards and 24-hour transit. Everything with him is about what things cost with no sense at all of the benefits, financial and otherwise, they bring to the city (what would it cost if a whole bunch of businesses went under and people had to quit their jobs because overnight transit was cut, for example?)

This driving thing is a perfect example of his mentality. He won't get a driver because he's this awesome everyman saving the city money. Meanwhile he's a total menace on the roads who flips off 6-year-olds and fights with streetcar drivers who call him out for his illegal behaviour. If you're so busy you have to read while you're commuting and you're too damn special to get a driver (they're provided for a reason, you putz) then take the TTC with the rest of us. I'm sure you'll find it lots of fun to try to read on the busses that come less frequently and are way more crowded thanks to your cuts.

A while back I was on my way to work - rush hour. The guy driving the car ahead of me had his cell phone in his right hand, holding it to his left ear. His left hand was resting on the top of his steering wheel, holding a sheaf of papers up in front of his face while he was yelling into the phone. I wish I could have gotten a picture.
