FTFA:

"
We should hope that Paul Ryan helps Romney beat Obama. Ryan is likeable, glib, and nice-looking, and he has proven able to sell the benefits of fiscal sanity to blue-collar constituencies. Ryan will more than hold his own in the vice presidential debates. He is not going to commit any gaffes or detract from the ticket.
"

Oh yeah? From Ryan a couple of days ago:

"
Corporations are people, my friend.
"

Ummm... No, fundamentally that is wrong. Corporations are abstract entities. That is quite different from a real person. This kind of sloppy thinking is what allows some folks to abstract away things like sympathy, basic human rights and in general project their agenda onto other sloppy or lazy thinkers.

I like how they throw in that Ryan is "nice-looking" as a reason for why he will help Romney beat Obama. If that doesn't accurately demonstrate the bottom-of-the-barrel desperation going on in the GOP right now, I don't know what will.

It's not about desperation, it is a reflection of the fact that the GOP values appearance over substance. They spend so much effort trying to paint a completely different picture of themselves to fool people into believing they're better than they really are. Like guilding a pile of dog shiat. OOoo...shiny. But underneath it's still dog shiat.

Ryan's heckle fest at the Iowa State Fair yesterday occurred exactly one year after Romney's famous "corporations are people" incident, at the same place, on the very same stage.

I think it's to Biden's advantage when he tippy toes. When he puts on his Army boots he tends to stumble all over the place.

'Fiscal' and 'sanity' are two words that simply do not work together. Regardless of one's political, economic or academic leanings, no one seems able to maintain even a modicum of rational presence when discussing fiscal matters. That just gets us ALL bent out of shape.

yeah, that should go well for him.

But don't the parties define what the debates will be about? I imagine that Romney/Ryan will probably refuse to show up unless the chosen topic at hand is something like "Obama's failures," "horse dancing" or "Atlas Shrugged-how it defined the solutions for today"

Wonky, big ideas, substance, serious issues! The braincenter of the GOP, he can't help but put forth substantive policy proposals. Serious ones.
