Wow.

I wasn't aware that the Russian navy even HAD two vessels capable of taking to the seas.

The Russians might want to google the Battle of Tsushima Strait, you want to Google that. Also if you ever get a chance, the IJN Mikasa is in excellent condition and a lovely tour.

I just want to say that I hate those motherfeckers who turtle in Australia.

Except when I'm fortunate enough to grab Western Australia and/or New Guinea first.

Did not even read the article, but great tagline on this one. Damn it, these articles are dragging me out of the "photoshop contest only" thing I was going for when I started actively participating again for the third time.

Kamchatka is valuable as a defence point but only temporarily until you're able to push for Alaska.

Of course, you should always try to take Australia. Sure, it's the war equivalent of camping, but it's a legitimate strategy.

Meh, I go for the North and South America combo (7 reinforcements/turn, only 3 entrances). Beats the easy Australia thing every time.

/never seen anyone who just turtled Australia actually win
//eventually, they get overwhelmed by the guy with 3 full continents

Just shave the attack dice so they always rolls a 6. The odds are in your favour with the defender having proper dice of them not rolling a 6 that often.

Lots of territorial disputes are starting to heat up

Falkland Islands/U.K vs Argentina and Mercosur countries

South Korea vs North Korea (disputed islands)

China and a bunch of islands in the south China sea Vs A bunch of countries

Russia Vs Japan

China Vs Japan

and if the ice continues to melt in the arctic, in less than 10 years, there will be war up there for the oil

You can't just stay in Oz...you have to hold at least one in Asia, to prevent that player from getting the large continent bonus.
Then you can slowly spread out.

Well, yeah. If you're lucky you can make a beeline for Africa, another fairly easy to hold continent. The most important thing is to disrupt the other bonuses. Still, almost every time I see it, it does not go according to plan.

This.

Had they been a winning party of WWII or even a party that managed a negotiated peace rather than an unconditional surrender, they would have gained territories. They lost and unconditionally surrendered... territory is usually lost when that happens.

A great website for email turn based games is here Games By Email. Risk, Axis and Allies, Diplomacy, History of the World, Chess, Checkers, Backgammon, etc, etc.

If anyone is interested in a game of Axis and Allies or History of the World I'm up for it. Oh, and it's free.

So... what is the optimal strategy after fortifying Australia?

Expeditionary forces westward to Africa, or north and then east, to North America?

Or do you establish a colony elsewhere and place your two bonus armies per turn halfway across the globe?

Discuss.

Either or. Depends on where you get countries at the outset. I either fortify one country in the middle of Asia (3-4) and use it for collecting cards, or send out a smaller force from Australia and do the same thing. It's not fool proof, but it can be done. Doesn't work so well with a small number of players.

How does that coincide with your post-war Commie conspiracy, huh? It's incredibly obvious, isn't it? A foreign substance is introduced into our precious bodily fluids without the knowledge of the individual, and certainly without any choice. That's the way your hard-core Commie works.

Nah, go for North America. Same number of access points (three), but worth 5 rather than 3 bonus armies per turn.

Sorry, I have to side with Japan on this one.

The JNSDF is one of the most modern navies in the World Today, Sans the United States. I'm sure they could do horrible things to two cold war Russian Ships.
