No sympathy for a single man can change the fact illegal immigrants should face penalties. And that's not America-centric either. I mean all illegals everywhere.

It's one thing to go visit a country, but if you're gonna live and work there without following the proper paperwork, you should be penalized. The penalty can be token, but it should exist.

If you think our economy has been bad the last few years - try sending back -all- immigrants not in this country legally. It would be the second coming of a depression. The fact that so many people want to come here is a good thing. Just because they force you to actually work for a living is not their problem.

My old boss would have hired him... for $8 an hour.

He did this after I left with some Indian software engineers. Nice guys (not the best programmers, they were mostly maintaining code myself and another guy had created at that company), but working for minimum wages because they were here illegally, and my old boss took advantage of it. I talked them into getting in touch with my contract company (at the time, this was mid-90s), who said they'd get these guys visas and proper paperwork.

I wasn't crazy about any jobs going to foreign nationals, but I also couldn't stand seeing people taken advantage of like that.
