They're latest album "Something for Everybody" is the best of the bunch, and that's coming from someone who collected all of their originals on vinyl:

My question is: Are all the dogs I've met named Seamus named after that song? Or is there some other common use of the name that I have never encountered?

100% this. I've never had a chance to see them, but I've seen plenty of recent videos... and they had a live DVD out not too long ago. They still totally have it.

I was amazed at the production level of the show. The venue I went to was a pretty small one (which is great), so most bands don't bother with much more than instruments on the stage. DEVO had the full-size LED video board in the background and went through something like 4-5 costume changes and did two encores. They also gave out a free copy of the new CD to anybody that bought tickets online. I would have bought a powerdome, but the merch was way overpriced (as expected for any concert).

Too bad they went new wave, though. The first album is the best punk I've ever heard.

That explains the howling throughout the song...also the lyrics...

I was in the kitchen
Seamus, that's the dog, was outside
well I was in the kitchen
Seamus, my own hound, was outside
well you know the sun was sinking slowly
and my own hound-dog sat right down and cried

Ugh, I am kind of embarrassed for them that they are relying on referencing tired interenet memes like a second-rate Weezer to connect with modern fans.

I like the new headgear... Especially because, for the most part., it hides 30 years of aging...

One of these dudes was setting up shop with dome other volunteers in a volcano caldera near the North Pole to test a year's isolation, and the effects on the group as research for a Mars trip, wish I could remember who it was. I read about it in Popular Science back in about 2003 and never heard about it again.
