(Townhall)   Have the left and Democratic Party sufficiently weakened the character of enough Americans to enable the demonization of Paul Ryan to lead Barack Obama to victory?   (townhall.com) divider line 160

That headline. WTF!

mrshowrules: Philip Francis Queeg: mrshowrules: Philip Francis Queeg: karnal: The Ryan plan does not get rid of Medicare but it would have Medicare compete with private insurers for business.

The reason that Medicare exists is that businesses were and are not interested in insuring the health of most Senior Citizens.

That's like saying the Berlin Wall was never destroyed, it was simply converted to tourist souvenirs.

WUT?

GOP claim is that Medicare will not be destroyed. I'm facetiously saying that Medicare being converted to a voucher system and claiming it still exists is equivalent to saying the the Berlin Wall still existing despite its dramatic transformation. You know that all the pieces got sold to tourists?

Okay. Got it now! :)

OneTimed: Serious question: why do poor people vote Republican? Do these idiots actually believe their policies will benefit them? Do they not care how badly they are farked as long as the darkies, muslims, atheists, and gays are kept in their place? Is it because socialism?

It's not about politicians helping them, since they do not believe that government can do any good.

It's about fear. Fear of many many different things.

rufus-t-firefly: This is the same asshole who said Keith Ellison shouldn't have been "allowed" to take his oath on a Koran.

Link

Keith Ellison, D-Minn., the first Muslim elected to the United States Congress, has announced that he will not take his oath of office on the Bible, but on the bible of Islam, the Koran.

He should not be allowed to do so -- not because of any American hostility to the Koran, but because the act undermines American civilization.
...
So why are we allowing Keith Ellison to do what no other member of Congress has ever done -- choose his own most revered book for his oath?

Fark Dennis Prager in his intolerant face-hole.

Agreed. Thing is, if someone asked me to make an oath on the Koran, and I do not follow islamic faith then really my oath holds no meaning. Same here. If Keith Ellison is forced to swear on the Holy Bible and he does not follow the Christian faith, then really his oath on that book means nothing more than the cost of his words (i.e. nothing..but given his character, I would accept him taking the oath while holding his hand over a roll of toilet paper). Swear on the holy book of your chosen faith and be done with it.

Fear of Nubians. Fear of Communism, even though it's totally absurd at this stage in history. Fear of Muslims. Fear of things and people who are different. Fear of Hell, because God will smite them if they don't continue to act like it's 500 B.C.. Perhaps in the back of their minds also a fear that if the liberals had their way things would generally improve, thus making their opponents the clowns of U.S. history. Nobody likes to be proven wrong.

There are actually a lot of similarities in the beliefs of American conservatives and Islamic fundamentalists; both depend ultimately on fear to get their way. It's not enough to be ignorant to be a part of either group; you also have to be a pants-shiatting coward.

Ok....I can see that. But aren't your democrats using a little fear mongering themselves this election cycle? With headlines like: 'The Romney/Ryan budget is painful for Americans," "Romney-Ryan budget that ends Medicare as we know it." Rep. Paul Ryan's budget is "thinly veiled social Darwinism" "Republicans are white and want to deport you for being brown" "Republicans are racist, they are the party of segregation" " Republicans want to send women to the kitchen and take away their rights to having as many abortions as you want." Fear mongering isn't just a Republican ploy.

How comical, thinking the left and the Democrats are somehow aligned.

Don't worry, Subby. We don't need weak character to demonize Paul Ryan.

We have evidence.
