in the case of scandinavian nations, it helps to have a homogenous population. Many of those folks do not care for "outsiders".

I'm not the one who fantasizes about living in racist countries and that America should model their fascist tendencies.

Yes, but it hasn't happened yet, and that's why France is circling the drain. Once those wealthy bastards are drained of their excessive income, growth and prosperity will explode.

I still don't understand everybody's obsession with growth. You cannot have infinite growth on a planet with finite resources.

In Norway's case, it's nice to run a welfare state when you're sitting on the biggest oil reserves in the north sea.

It is called unemployment rate, if your economy is not growing at a fast enough rate then it is not providing enough jobs. That is the problem we are experiencing right now, the US is adding new job seekers to the economy about as fast as it is adding jobs. It is why even though the US economy has added an average of 150,000 new jobs a month since 2011 the large number of people all ready out of work and the large number of new workers keep the unemployment rate at around 8.5%. If the current economic growth rate continues we won't return to pre-2008 employment numbers until 2025.

Now then the government can do several thing to impact that number positively or negatively. To positively affect economic growth they could attempt to stimulate the economy by either taxing or borrowing money and spending it directly on goods and services. Unfortunately this can only go on so long before the economy accepts this spending as normal and adjusts for it, this is called the crowding out effect.

On the other side the government can negatively affect the economy by drastically cutting government spending, reducing the amount of money the government spends on goods and services, and drastically affecting the number of jobs supported by the government money. Yes the Republicans are wrong on this issue, cutting government spending in the manner they want to will reduce economic growth and negatively affect employment.

Scandinavian countries just like all other western nations are multicultural. If you want homogenous you need to look to China. Do you fancy emulating their model?

In fact that was the motivation for that Breivic nutter to go on the murder mile.

Systematic deregulation of the financial sector starting in 1980. As if the 1987 S&L crisis wasn't a clue.

We had these protections in place because of the 1929 Crash and the subsequent Great Depression.

Who FORCED them??? They did so out of greed by repackaging those bad loans as good to suckers at a profit. That's called FRAUD.

Congress

THAT'S RED LINING, AND RED LINING IS RACIST!

Bullsh*t, that's business. I don't care what color you are, if you can repay the loan, I make money. If you can repay the loan I want to loan you money. But, if you all indicators say you are going to default, there's the door.

Congress do no such thing.

Once upon a time there used to be LOAN OFFICERS at a bank that were incentivised to protect the capital of the depositors by not writing bad loans.

That stopped with the profit incurred by repackaging those loans as good ones and avoiding the risk.

Who spearheaded the degregulation of the financial sector? Gramm-Leach-Bliley all Republicans.

2012-08-15 01:20:32 PM
Congress threatened banks with sanctions if they didn't make loans easier for unqualified applicants to get, so banks made the bad loans. Then the repackaging came from the bad loans, and that was wrong of the banks to do. But, Congress got the ball rolling and put them in a bad with sh*tloads of bad debt.

Fortunately, the government (read: taxpayers) then purchased it.

And, now they want us to believe we got value for our money.

I love getting lied to. So vote Democrat.

Look up changes made to the Community Reinvestment Act, and the actions of Janet Reno (and her sidekick, Eric Holder). Reno prosecuted banks and encouraged private lawsuits. Even Barry filed one (against Citibank)! They threatened and took action against banks to make loans, and called their lending criteria (which is about as mathematical as a thing can be) racist. They even tried to force banks to open branches in specific neighborhoods.
