That's just a level of stupid that I can't even comprehend right now.

What is the name of your mental condition that made you think posting photos of you topless on your facebook was a good idea?

It seemed like a good idea at the time.

Tits or GTFO.

Bad subby.

The pictures are not what was stupid. The having your students as "friends" on you account is.

writing "first price" instead of "first prize"

That's a typographical error, not a grammatical error.

Semi-pertinent Grammar Nazi post: a teacher had a post on her Pinterest page with a cutesified milk crate for storage for her 2nd grade classroom. In her caption she wrote "So versital!"

I couldn't help myself: I asked if she were planning on storing dictionaries in there.

I assume she has a strong southern accent and doesn't read much.

Oh oh oh.... and I once sat in a master's-level education class and was behind an attractive blonde third-grade teacher who was marking papers instead of, you know, paying attention in class. She had a thick black Sharpie and wrote "AWSOME!" in big letters on the top of many of the papers. I was kinda embarrassed for her. She ended up having to re-take the class-- she missed too many sessions and needed it for completion of her degree.

Jane pointed out: "There are students in her Facebook account, and is it alright for the 8-year-olds to look at her half-naked body? I don't think so."

8-year olds don't care. If she has teenage students, on the other hand...

And this is from Singapore? The place where you can't even chew gum in public? This won't end well for her.

The blurring and censor gave me the impression that was a still image from a horror film. A Japanese/Korean flick about a soul sucking sex doll that was too graphic to show.

What "topless pictures"? It's Singapore. They think ankles are indecent there.

If "Jane" (if that is her real name) doesn't want to see the boob then she should just click to another page. The teacher doing anything sexually suggestive.

first price is the same as first place. why is someone chiming in to emphasize that they won a PRIZE of some sort?? what if there was no prize, and just recognition?? how goes it stupid

Wait, Singapore? I thought they just walked around bare-breasted in a sarong and the men in loincloths as they paddled around those flat boats fishing and gathering coconuts. Or am I confusing it with someplace else. Or perhaps some other time. I do that sometimes.

I work in a primary school, not as a teacher. But doesn't Facebook disallow under-13s from making accounts?

It's a communications tool for parents.

"Jane" from TFA: "There are students in her Facebook account, and is it alright for the 8-year-olds to look at her half-naked body? I don't think so."

And your evidence that her students had access to these photos is...?

Facebook has privacy controls, and you can make lists of people and then set what members of those lists can and cannot see, and it's not too hard. I am "friended" with many of my students (high school) on Facebook because it turns out to be a good place to link interesting articles, post extra credit assignments, field study questions, post exam info and advice, etc.

They cannot see any photos I post except to the junk I throw in the "mobile uploads" and "wall posts" albums. None of my partying, hanging out with friends, and other personal life stuff is visible to them They cannot see any wall posts from my other friends. They cannot see any wall posts that I don't specifically allow them to see. etc etc. They cannot see most of my personal info (address, phone number, family members, etc). Really, it's not that hard to secure all that, and it all can easily be verified by using the handy "view as" button on your timeline.

Now, I agree that posting topless photos of oneself on Facebook (or online at all, unless you want them to be seen) is pretty dumb, but I think "Jane" is blowing it out of proportion. :-/

ALSO...

RatOmeter: "...is it alright for the 8-year-olds to look at her half-naked body have a facebook account? I don't think so."

THIS!

Especially since it is explicitly against FaceBook's user terms and conditions (^) to use FaceBook if you are under the age of 13 (section 4, number 5). Facebook should be deleting those accounts. :-/

I'm guessing by the fact that she found them. Unless the person posting the article has been added to her private friends-only stuff, it's safe to assume that if a stranger can see them, so can the snowflakes.

There's a weird culture of assumed privacy among some facebook users, where apparently you're just supposed to know when they don't want you seeing things that were posted in public and pretend to ignore it.. even the flagrantly illegal or embarassing stuff. This is why all the common articles about 'dumbass kids post photos of illegal activities to their wall, get arrested.'

Where might one find just such a doll of the soul sucking kind? Have no soul and so there's just the sex part left which oddly enough, works out pretty well.

This this this.

Also super entertaining:

Jane pointed out: "There are students in her Facebook account, and is it alright for the 8-year-olds to look at her half-naked body? I don't think so."

The terms and conditions on Facebook prohibit 8 year olds from being on Facebook, so Jane should be banned.

Keep your private life separate from your professional life.

If your students see you topless, you shouldnt be teaching, especially if you a man in his 50s with a BMI of 32.

How bout posting and mocking your kids' homework assignments as the most derptastic part of the story? First, she's being completely unprofessional. Second, if this were the US, the lawsuits would already be flying. Third, bad homework=bad teaching.

Unfortunately the average elementary school teacher isn't particular skilled at grammar or spelling in my very recent experience. When I pointed out that vocabulary words on the wall in my daughter's elementary school classroom were misspelled, the teacher refused to take responsibility for them or correct them.

To top it off, I got an invitation to "litericy night" at the school to promote reading, and that was from the "reading specialist" who was supposed to be training the rest of the teachers!

Unbelievable.

Considering how much official communication came from my kid's school with misspellings, I'm not surprised.

/Trust me lady, those 8-year-olds are browsing Tumblr all day long when parents aren't around. WHen they get a bit older they'll graduate to 4chan and the tubes.

Yup. If you upload anything to on the internet, people you don't want to see it are going to see it eventually.
Livejournal inspired some image crawler websites that scanned even private images for the world to see.
You could spend hours looking at what people are uploading in real-time, it was quite entertaining.

I think it's safe to say anything uploaded to Facebook, even under "privacy" (this is Facebook remember) is available to anyone with some time on their hands.
