What with the privacy and security concerns of FB becoming more prevalent every day, I'm expecting my Google+ circles to start filling up with my friends any day now.

Any day now.

I'd actually be flattered that they took the time to set up that redirect.

Can I spam my Google+ circles with Farmville updates? I think that is the feature holding them back.

"snappy answers to stupid questions"

1. because fark was created to aggregate news stories are intense, deep, and compelling.

2. because the fark moderators/admin took a whiskey break from their duty of entertaining you, and this one slipped by.

3. because al jafee is a far better funny man than i am.

Google+ has the same sense of humour as the Oatmeal

That means, none. Zero. Zilch. Nada. Nothing.

Everybody who just read that is now unfunnier by association.

Google+ is self spamming. Good news it defaults to forwarding the spam to your gmail inbox too.

You can turn that shiat off, universally, in your settings.

You can also block game updates from people singly for stuff that sneaks through somehow.

I just don't get the appeal of The Oatmeal. Terribly unfunny and the creator seems to be a bit of a coont. Any fans care to explain what you like about it?

It's bland and mushy, so the sound of eating it doesn't set off my hangover. I usually eat it with That Orange Juice and Them Boiled Eggs as part of one of Those Balanced Breakfasts.

/besides, aren't we all created by coonts?

I used to visit his site and read his comics in the same religious fashion as people who go to church three or more times a week. When I first discovered his little operation (roughly two-ish years ago), many of his earlier comics actually gave me a good laugh and I would check back regularly for updates, re-read favorites whenever I needed a chuckle, recommend them to friends, etc. and so on. Over the past year or so - about the time he released his book - the actual comic updates became more and more scarce; sometimes only one or maybe two a month. And most of the stuff he WAS releasing went from being original vignettes and premises, to just another comic that riffed on current events in as vulgar a fashion as he could, while still attempting to maintain the "cartoony" feel of his style.

Not too long ago he released a comic entitled "How Not To Suck At Your Religion" and after reading that was when I decided that I was done with The Oatmeal. I wasn't offended by his Christianity bashing or anything like that; it just seemed like he wasn't even trying anymore. His work went from goofy, silly stuff like poems about pterodactyls to "Gee, what's a hot topic in today's culture, and how can I make fun of it?" Basically, he's started becoming stale and generic imho.

tl;dr version: I think his internet celebrity has gone to his head. The folks who militantly follow him will lap up whatever crap he decides to spew out as though it were a day's water rations, regardless of the quality.

youre not far off.

also, if you work in technology or are involved with the web professionally, his commentary on websites, webtrends, how people use technology in certain situations/industries etc are also quite good. i think though if i didnt work in tech i wouldnt be so interested in him.

however, even if he is a bit of a douche now, after the heroic win he had agasint that nutbag lawyer last month imo gives him a freepass for a while.

it took forever for google to authorize google apps account to use google+.

So when I finally was able to log into it, all my friends' posts were last dated in december and were along the line of "Is Google+ still a thing?"

Well since using Google+ since ditching Facebook I have found it to be a great place to meet new people with similar interest opposed to Facebook where you find people you went to highschool with and quickly remember why you lost touch in the first place. Sure I will get flamed for posting my opinion but find it to be a much more engaging social network, personal preference. Oh, and there are fun things like this to follow (NSFW)

G+ has free video conference for up to 9 different web cams in the group at once. That sold me.

(also, it automatically puts the person talking in the main screen, a neat feature)

I Like Google+. The video thing mentioned above is great, plus the photo albums are much, much better than the FB ones. If they get around to making Google Drive more integrated with it...well, I'd like that too.
