Uh, technically, isn't Joe Biden invoking his dead father to question Paul Ryan's values?

2012-08-13 04:34:37 PM
He didn't say anything BAD about ryan's father. Just that ryan quotes his father just as Biden himself does. I don't get it.

2012-08-13 04:37:30 PM
"My dad used to have another saying, for real," Biden said. "And, by the way, I've been saying this for 30 years. And I'm glad to see that Congressman Ryan likes his dad, too, and quotes his dad. I mean that sincerely. But my dad [had] a lot of wisdom. Every time someone tell you, say, 'Look, let me tell you what's important to me, what I value.' My dad would go, 'No, no. Don't tell me what you value. Show me your budget, and I will tell you what you value.'"

OUTRAAAAAAGE

Yup.

History's greatest monster.

Oh, sorry. Vice History's greatest monster.

You're not allowed to mention anything about anyone's dead relative, regardless of it being good, bad or neutral. Acknowledging that that person is ever existed is AN ATTACK ON A PERSON'S DEAR, DECEASED FAMILY!

Also, Biden made an excellent point about Paul Ryan's budget proposals vs the groups he says he supports, and this dude couldn't think of a valid counterpoint - so voila! Faux outrage is born!

2012-08-13 04:38:53 PM
LOL, they are really, really farking desperate.

2012-08-13 04:39:08 PM
How is anyone talking earnestly about things that actually came out of Ryan's mouth in any way beyond the pale?

Is this where we are? Is this what we've come to? That the Republicans are such delicate flowers they can't have a civil discussion over things they have said?

Yes, Ryan's father died young. Apparently he imparted some wisdom that he holds dear. Biden's father has passed on too. But it's not like Biden attacked the man, he used it as a segue into discussing his own father, and paid Ryan's father a compliment to boot.

Jesus, could you try acting less butt-hurt?

2012-08-13 04:40:44 PM
Where did he invoke Ryan's father? All I read was that he said he's glad Ryan quotes his father, too.

2012-08-13 04:44:06 PM
So the derpmod greenlit a faux-outrage BS piece from the weekly sub-standard. Nice.

2012-08-13 04:46:50 PM
If you're offended by anything in that statement, you should probably just go hide until the election is over.

Because you're too damned delicate for this world.

"My dad used to have another saying, for real," Biden said.

Biden has been hanging out with Obama for too long. He's starting to speak in Ebonics.

This plus Biden's dad sounds smarter.

/my dad once told me when a politician invokes something their father told them, they are lying 99% of the time.

2012-08-13 04:48:14 PM
Oh man, Paul Ryan is going to cream Joe Biden in the vice presidential debate. Ryan is going to debate circles around him. It's going to be an embarrassment. I wouldn't be surprised if the vice presidential debate turns the whole election around for Mitt Romney. This isn't good. I'm really worried about how better Paul Ryan over Joe Biden.

Kome: Where did he invoke Ryan's father? All I read was that he said he's glad Ryan quotes his father, too.

Can we get a list of things that Romney thinks the Obama campaign can't talk about?

So far we have:

His business experience
His government experience
Things he has said in public
Things Ann Romney has said in public
Paul Ryan's budget plan
Paul Ryan's dad, in any context.

Yes exactly. How dare he.

I like Biden, he's very smart and always smiles, even when he's (rhetorically) ripping you apart.

2012-08-13 04:54:38 PM
That is some really weak shiat from the Weekly Standard, and I am not surprised by that.

But it is also some really weak shiat from the modmins, greenlighting this idiotic piece, and I am sadly becoming less surprised about things like that.

The Veep debate is going to be a lot of fun this year. And I mean like A LOT of fun.

My understanding is that greenlighting does not imply agreement. Sometimes the derp needs to be seen by all.

It doesn't imply agreement. It just means that page clicks and ad revenue trump all.

This is both the most entertaining and most poorly-run campaign I've seen from the Repubs in.......ever, come to think of it. As my boyfriend is fond of saying, "The GOP is fakakta." I would have gone with farshtunken, but I'm a goy, what do I know.

2012-08-13 06:00:41 PM
Ryan's dad used to have a saying, too. He would say, "No, no. Don't tell me what you value. Show me how much extra ham costs, and I will tell you what you're worth."

2012-08-13 06:01:54 PM
What an outrage!

But I want to hear more about Obama's dead mom being a prostitute, porn star, slut, and anything else the right can insult her with!

Help we're being oppressed!

I love that they've blown the GAFF horn so much that even when he DOES gaff (which he didn't here, no matter how hard ya'll blow), no one pays attention. Or if they do, they forget shortly thereafter cause Biden's so DAMN likable!

If it doesn't have to do with a Trans-Am or double fisting ice cream, I'm really short on attention when it comes to Biden stories.

That said, I think he should co-host Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives with Guy Fieri. That would be awesome.

I for one am heartily sick of a RW that vilifies it's opposition on a regular basis while faking outrage over imaginary slights.

Real bullies playing fake victims.

Feh.

Even worse, Obama has a book called Dreams from my Father...

Ryan's father died when the congressman was 15 years old.

I am, at any rate, enjoying the fact that after years of Karl Rove, swift boats, the shiat they did to Max Cleland, Why Do You Hate America™, the president is a communist, where birf certifict, pals around with terrorists, etc. etc...

... the new Republican tactic is to weep and moan that the Bad Ol' Demmycrats are being big mean meanies to them. Cry some moar.
