I just find it entertaining that the Vatican is mad at this guy for pointing out the corruption in the Vatican. I think Ratzinger hired this guy as counsel:

And now that we have put this to rest, the Catholic Church is free to go back to spreading death and suffering across the globe in the name of a book written by goat-herding, money lending pedophiles. And teaching boys about their butts.

TFA: "Gabriele was held in a special Vatican cell for about a month and a half before being released to house arrest in July."

A "special Vatican cell"? Holy crap, the Vatican has a DUNGEON?

Awesome!

I tend to think that every time a young child is raped, humanity suffers. Each dollar stolen from a Catholic and used for something immoral is a dollar that could have been donated to a real charity that helps humanity.

Yeah, it was booted out in 2004 when it refused to condemn the use of condoms in AIDS-ravaged Africa.

I'm as troubled by the costumed sexcapades as anyone, but really, the church committed so many sins, there is no need to fixate. They gave a medal to Rafael Trujillo, for example.

Why would you wish death on anyone, man? Let alone be disappointed someone didn't die?

Once, when playing Clue, I discovered that I, in fact, had done it. I accused myself in the room I was in, and put myself behind bars, winning the game.

That was very surreal.

I don't wish death on the Pope, I just thought we might get an entertaining distraction from the US election for a little while.
And I really couldn't care less if most of the senior members of the Catholic Church died. They are old men that have covered up the abuse of children.

Don't forget: the Pope and his co-conspirators are responsible for an awful lot of death and misery across the world, including central Africa.

What kind of info was leaked exactly? I've been hearing so much about this story, and how it has "rocked" the Vatican, but not a word about what, specifically, it has exposed. Any help?

It was published as a book if you can read Italian. Here's the English summary: http://ncronline.org/blogs/ncr-today/qa-vatican's-'butler-did-it'-saga

It boggles my mind that people still support this corrupt institution.

http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2012/05/24/vatileaks-exposes-in t ernal-memos-of-the-catholic-church.html

Anyone who crossed the wrong cardinals in Rome risked being sent to oversee the troubled American diocese. For example, Cardinal Carlo Maria Vigano had uncovered widespread corruption in the Vatican accounting department and wrote a series of letters to the pope pleading that he consider making high-level changes to stem the money laundering, nepotism, and embezzlement going on in the church. Soon after his initial complaints, he received notice of his impending transfer to Washington, D.C., three years before the end of his tenure. He pleaded with the pope to let him stay: "Holy Father, my transfer at this time would provoke much disorientation and discouragement in those who have believed it was possible to clean up so many situations of corruption and abuse of power that have been rooted in the management of so many departments," he wrote. He was transferred to Washington late last year.

On August 26, 1978, Cardinal Albino Luciani was elected Pope, taking the name John Paul I. 33 days later he was dead. Was the murder plot in ''Godfather Part III'' true? (new window)
