Your employer paid good money for your time. While it might make him happy to see you busy, it's not what he really wants. He knows better than to get his hopes that high, and besides, he already has plenty of money. Whatever meager thing you can accomplish doesn't matter in the scheme of things. No, what he really wants to see in return for your paycheck is you looking miserable. That's why he needs you at your desk during lunch. Do you think he wants to follow you to whatever fast food place you and your sad little coworkers can afford for lunch? Ha! So put on your best mopey face and stay at your desk during lunch. There may be a promotion in it for you.
