I rarely have to use more than 9 of those at once, though.
(10 if you count my laptop)

Just how much porn do you honestly need to have in front of you all at once?

/if you really want a crescent wank that badly invest in some scud books

A few of my dualscreen wallpapers. Google for the resolution to find some good candidates

I have 3 screens at my desk... Does this mean I have super powers?

Maul555: I have 3 screens at my desk... Does this mean I have super powers?

I saw a picture of Rupert Murdoch at his desk, and he had three screens. So apparently it means you are evil.

/So hopefully no superpowers.

profplump: BretMavrik: I'm by no means an uber-nerd, but here you go. Two screens each for Lion and Win7.

You have too many keyboards. You need Synergy.

Synergy has been a pain in the but for me, over many many versions.. some days it is fine all day, other days it is constantly dropping off even after system restarts... I'm going to give that desktop director that someone else pointed out up-thread a try...

3 PC's, 3 monitors, one Synergy network at home. Puts my actual work rig to shame. Which is why they let me work from home as long as I want.

bulok: There are no marked improvements on productivity with dual screens. It just means someone can work and browse Facebook at the same time and less money in the budget for my toys.

You've obviously never worked in 3DS Max, Photoshop and a game engine simultaneously before. 3 screens is extremely useful for quickly switch apps, layout out control panels while not blocking workspace and viewing textures and models simultaneously. Really any coding or design work where you use multiple complicated programs sees large improvements in productivity with dual or triple screens.

If all you do it write emails all day, then yeah, you're just going to have more room to fark around while you work.

Those are all 30", 2560x1600 displays.

[ image 640x480]

These are mere 20" displays, but at the late, lamented 1600x1200 resolution.

No, not mine.

Sure, I can be as productive with a single screen as with multiples -- as long as that single screen fills my field of view, and has resolution equal to my foveal acuity across its entire surface.

You do GIS or something?

DirkValentine: You do GIS or something?

No, I just have normal visual perception and working memory. Since that's true, any time I have to shuffle windows (or papers) around in the middle of a task, it's costing me time and attention, and therefore effectiveness. That doesn't make me special; it's true for everybody else, too.

I figure it's going to be quite a few years before I get the display system of my dreams (full resolution, full field of view). It'd be nice to have a wall-o-monitors to tide me over, but since I'm not special enough, it's not going to happen.
