I love his stand up.. great stuff.
His show though.. it really has got dark in the latter half of last season, and this season. It's a series of uncomfortable moments, little to no laughs, and something dark/ominous. I just love his comedy.. but. I just can't dig his show much these days.

Remember that time Dane Cook did the same thing? Me neither.

I still like the show, but I agree it seems to be a lot of uncomfortable situations this season. The episode where he went to the strip club with Robin Williams, though...that was brilliant. I actually felt sad for the strippers and the DJ while simultaneously laughing at what Louis and Robin's characters must have been feeling.

Also I can't believe they lost Pam.

I don't recall last time I was out with Drew and he *didn't* get my bar tab. He's always been pretty generous.

Haha damn. Getting paid to watch a comedian seems a joke in of itself. Always have had respect for Louis C.K.

And what good will that do me NOW? *Grumble*

The episode where Louie and Robin Williams make strippers cry was comedic gold.

So did he start out funny and then depress you so bad you wanted to kill yourself?

I'm not cool enough.

Maybe one of these days I should go to a Fark party and meet this... 'Drew' character you all talk about.

I always liked his comedy and the more I hear about him as a person the more I am impressed. The story about the USO show he did that had no power is another good one, all the other entertainers gave up but he figured these guys deserved a show so he just yelled his most vulgar jokes rather than his typical set and everyone loved it.

I actually like how it works this season. I don't think its too depressing, and it differs itself from other comedies.

Has anyone else noticed the joke from David Cross's 1999 HBO special that Louis uses in his $5 download special?

It's not just the same joke--I don't care what you do with my body after I die, cause I'll be dead--and not just the same punch line--go ahead and give my body to necrophiliacs--but the same specifics in terms of actions and orifices. Any of you folks noticed that?

I know Louie's been tied to joke-stealing controversies in the past, so I'll add, I'm not accusing anyone of anything. I'm a big fan of his stand-up and the show. Just thought it was curious.

Louis Ck is one of the best Stand-ups we have, and its not just because hes getting old and everything he says is relatable to me,Or that he talks loud enough for me to hear...Well yeah, maybe its because i can hear him and everything he says can or did happen to you or someone you know..
The episode when he was basically mouth raped by the older Chick after she breaks the truck window with his head, shocked me...

/Sry Drew, the Pic above brought you to mind..

I just started watching season one. Yeah, it seemed to go from "awkward hilarious" to "very dark" after just 5 episodes or so. It's still entertaining, but damn...

While funny, no. The phrase "FP" refers to is the one that would get me filterowned. Rhymes with "Hearst Toast".

I think I know what you're talking about, but IIRC they really WERE two separate jokes and not as similar as you describe.

"Joke stealing" is a common result of chance, and the fact that social taboos are what they are. Two similarly-minded comics making necrophiliac sex jokes isn't that surprising.

/also, those are my two favorite comics...

I love his show. Once I accepted that it's not really a "comedy" per se, that really helped. He's not really trying to make a comedy, he's not really trying to make you laugh, he's just trying to make a show that's interesting to him.

His show itself isn't really a "TV Show" its more like a series of short films - some last an episode, some multiple, and even last week's episode was basically 3 short films.

I don't know, perhaps I'm in the minority, but I love it. I think Louis CK is brilliant and his show is just an exploration of his own mind, something that I'm totally on board with.

I'm catching up with season 2 right now and it's brilliant. Just that one segment with the soda spill on the subway seat should be nominated for an Emmy. And the Halloween scene with the punks and his kids, holy crap!

Yeah, I wouldn't consider that stealing. Especially in the world of observational humor... two similar jokes are just going to happen from time to time.

Now, if someone is a jokester like Mitch Hedberg (RIP) or Gilbert Gottfried... then its probably a rip-off.

I just went back to watched the 2 bits in question. Not as similar as I originally thought. Actually no specifics (other than being dead) in common.

Even if Louie was inspired by the Cross bit, he takes the premise in a different direction.

I feel better. I'd hate to have a true artist and role model like Louie CK associated with joke stealing scum like Hedberg.

/jk. RIP Hedberg.

I saw him do stand up in Wilmington, DE a few years back, he killed it on stage. Afterwards he came out in the lobby to chat, pose for pics and he kept thanking people for coming, he was pretty cool about it.

The best $5 I ever spent on comedy was the online special he did that was fark-linked several months back. People were stoked that he was donating a bunch of proceeds to charity and STILL making a little scratch for himself and his team. I don't like every joke or angle of his, but his delivery is perfect, and the man wrote Pootie Tang, for Pete's sake! I've been signing my pity on the runny kine ever since. Those who dismiss him as a hack are probably better off with Gallagher,
