paj: Sportsnet (canada) just had a sweet montage of Olympic moments with The Who over top. Excellent work.

Now it's time for CBC to shine in 2014 and 2016. Hopefully more people will offer a stream of that feed. I could never find one for CTV or TSN.

I missed The Newsroom FOR THAT?
Gotta admit though, Daltry was in very good voice.

Alot of his contemporaries like Plant, couldn't have come close.
People like Plant, and David Lee Roth talk their way through most of their songs now, or expect the audience to sing it.

...Just saw the performance for a second time, and did mine ears deceive me, or were the lyrics changed to "more than teenage wasteland"?

They refutiated the original lyrics long ago. Too cynical.

@BubbaProg says: NBC cut 51 minutes, 23 seconds from their closing ceremony broadcast. It was 3:08:10 long, so NBC showed you 73% of what actually happened.

Shin A Lam had better be in this closing montage.

"We cut all the other tributes to terror victims and volunteers out, but hey, here's a shoutout to some NBC producers." Classy, NBC. Classy.

"This is Dick Erbosol's last olympics with NBC"

And the heavens rejoiced! He's the one man keeping NBC's Olympic coverage in the stone ages.

There's Shin. So they at least got that right.

Really, stop at 11, show 20 damned minutes of some crappy show that I was hoping would be better just because I like animal shows (I used to watch Norm Macdonald's just for the wiener dog), then into 40 minutes of local news, that they had to stretch by reporting on almost anything.
15 minutes of local sports? I don't even care that much about professional sports.
Follow that with a whole 7 minutes of The Who, with the fireworks actually louder than the music?

Wow, speaking of The Who, I won't get fooled again.

That "show me your peacock" promo was annoying, even just the first time.
I'm fear that if they start repeating it, I'll be prone to violence toward innocent home electronic devices.

Last I checked, the apple store version had only 250 or so positive reviews, and over 940 1 star reviews. That screen grab is hilarious if real.

Holy crap.

Yesterday, I heard some republican noise machinist (on FOX of course) complaining that the crowds should have been chanting USA! USA! during every event.

At least the British patriotism was kind of cool, as opposed to the United States, where we feel the need to prove that we're the loudest, overbearing, drunken hillbillies at every function we attend.

So, instead of just lambasting NBC with criticism by email or Facebook ,why not also hit them where it hurts: the bigger corporations that bought a ton of commercial time during nbc's Olympic coverage blocks? Subway and some others come to mind.cmaybe write them and tell them NBC dropped the ball on them and they wasted money considering how bad a taste the coverage left with you, and that they should help put pressure on NBC to give us a better product to watch, and them a better product to air their rather costly commercials during.

I had to do a double take too.

He gets on BBC for using words like we when describing Team GB.

Obviously they should do what we do and only show the sports that the US is good at and only show the US athletes for those events.

That's NOT jingoistic.

Wouldnt that mean that you steadfastly stayed glurd to your TV throughout and took careful notice of advertisements?

Isnt that sort of what Subway and the rest were hoping you might do when they gambled on buying the ads that interfered with your viewing pleasure?

Which was still 72% more than was worth watching.

Watching an old man sing "Teenage Wasteland" and "My Generation" was heartbreakingly ironic. Don't get me wrong I love The Who, but seriously his generation is collecting social security and poor old Pete is deaf now. As for the rest, I didn't watch any of it. I just don't care about watching sports on television, and the superfluous nationalism makes me sick.

Do they not have TV guide in your country to prewarn you of these sorts of outrages before you are sickened by them?

Has anyone figured out what was going on in the Annie Lennox section?

NBC said her entourage looked "gothic." The BBC said her song was off the soundtrack to Bram Stoker's Dracula.

However, the costumes were clearly 18th century. Bram Stoker's Dracula is set in the 19th. And the song she performed, "Little Bird," is not on the Dracula soundtrack. (Her song, "Love Song for a Vampire" is.)

From the way they were dressed I thought it was reference to the New Romantic fashions / music of the early '80s. They were dressed for Adam Ant's "Stand and Deliver," not anything to do with vampires.

I'm re-watching this on a different TV, one with the close captioning active.

Some of their attempts at lyrics are ... interesting.

LadyBelgara: IMDWalrus: I really hope NBC doesn't cut The Who.

They mentioned The Who was coming back, so we can hope they didn't mention it just to taunt us.

The Who is coming back? So they've reanimated Moon and Entwistle for the closing ceremonies? Nice!

Incoherent and mediocre. What a HUGE disappointment after the spectacular opening ceremony and wonderful games.

Embarrassing.

Gotta agree, as a brit, watched the whole thing live and was thinking 2 hours in 'Oh god, when is this going to end?'

Talk of trying to inspire a new generation and they bring on a succession of old crusties who haven't been relevant for 30 years.

Was entertained by Eric Idle and the Bollywood dancers though.

Even the fireworks were a bit crap, not a patch on Barcelona 20 years ago.
