Mrtraveler01: I was on the losing end of that great month (Red Sox won it in St. Louis). But I couldn't help but feel happy for you guys. 100+ years is a real long time.

I still remember watching the ALCS past midnight on a school night a few times.

There's literally only one group of fans in the world who will ever feel that way ever again. Not that it's happening anytime soon, but they're the only ones who will ever feel it.

\it's also why the more I watched the commercial of the "fake" reenactment, the more I really, really hated that they did that to them

Who did the voiceover for that Chevy commercial? Sounds really, really familiar.

Were those Canadian chicks wearing Canadian tuxedoes?

I DOUBT I will be in the CFB threads this year due to my allegiance. However, I want to wish you the BEST of luck in your season, and the first game against my CFB team.

Farksteron: British music acts > U.S. music acts

Used to be...this performance tonight proves Britain has jumped the shark.

optikeye: Hey, It's better than Atlanta's.

I forget what they did... Wasn't it just two hours of Charlie Daniels pleasuring Paula Deen with a stick of butter? And then some angry cracker set off a bomb?

Stay classy, ATL.

WhyteRaven74: Ikam: What an awful cover of Wonderwall.

When it's being played by 4 of the 5 people who recorded it, not exactly a cover.

Aye, it's only missing Noel, and Liam did the vocals on Wonderwall originally. It actually sounded more like the shiatty quality of the audio more than Liam, but as it's been noted, Liam's had his issues live.

TommyymmoT: The sound mix is mud.

I noticed that too. Of course, god only knows what the sound mix in the stadium actually sounds like. I've heard stuff live on TV that I thought was awful then had someone who was there tell me it was awesome.

Farksteron: British music acts > U.S. music acts
discuss...

No doubt.

One can make the argument that British musicians have been more influential on music overall than US Musicians.

Especially since the 1950's.

That being said, we should just hold the Olympics in London every 4 years if we get closing ceremonies like these.

It didn't even occur to me until just now that Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds, was actually THE NOEL GALLAGHER.

tlchwi02: IMDWalrus: eyeq360: I want to see a historical documentary.

The demise of NBC.

With shows like Animal Practice, they're definitely on their way.

i wathced the new matthew perry show under extreme protest and... it was actually pretty good. i laughed.

I'm not too interested in watching it because it looks like they ripped a lot off from Community...which is still on the air, even though NBC seems hellbent on pretending it's not.

Also, I just don't like Matthew Perry in the first place.

2012-08-12 09:59:48 PM

DamnYankees: Actually, let me take that back. Don't Look Back In Anger is Oasis' best song, and one of the best of the past 25 years. This isn't, but its still a very good song.

Wrong. "Farking in the Bushes."

Mrtraveler01: tlchwi02: i wathced the new matthew perry show under extreme protest and... it was actually pretty good. i laughed.

They did a really crappy job promoting it then. None of those promos made me laugh.

probably cause most of them had Shawn Johnson trying to act in them

And as we all know athletes shouldn't act

Is it sustainable? A couple good episodes is relatively easy, but a whole season or more?

I think it is sustainable if allowed to grow. Lots of room for back stories and character development.

tuffsnake: Roook: hey I hear this song on my way to work in the morning

Every morning? Do you have it in your CD player or something?

When I was in high school, my drive in, every day, was the exact length of the Beatles' "A Day In the Life."

Mrtraveler01: They did a really crappy job promoting it then. None of those promos made me laugh.

same, did not want to watch it. but actually, it was pretty funny. the parts they showed in the promos were way better done in the show itself and they had a few bits not in the promo. and matthew perry actually is pretty funny in his piece. also i had a call out to one of my favorite movies ever that came out of nowhere.

Donnchadha: Is it sustainable? A couple good episodes is relatively easy, but a whole season or more?

it had potential, thanks to the ensemble to play off of. for a pilot i thought it was actually oddly watcheable

make me some tea: TommyymmoT: The sound mix is mud.

Yeah I noticed that. They seem to have some mic problems throughout.

Nah, I'm sure it's flawless.
The problem is NBC mixing in the sound of the room, to give you that live exciting feel of BEING THERE!

This just in. Arenas don't sound good acoustically.

Pontious Pilates: I forget what they did..

Other than the bombing...the most memorable was Chrome Pickup trucks...and Giant "Gone with the Wind" puppets.

OH MY GOD SEACREST I AM GOING TO SLAP YOU SO HARD IN THE FACE. JUST LET THE COMEDY HAPPEN INSTEAD OF COMPLETELY RUINING THE JOKE 5 SECONDS BEFORE THEY JOKE.

And yay, the song!

2012-08-12 10:02:23 PM
That's funny.

2012-08-12 10:02:26 PM
The £10 million LED "pixels" that they've installed in the stadium (a 3x3 grid on every seat) will now become standard everywhere, I suspect.

Also, when did Jessie J morph into Admiral Cain in a leotard?

2012-08-12 10:02:26 PM
And Seacrest farking ruins it again. Shut up Seacrest!
