So, it's Guess Who, Yes?

No, Who's on the stage!

Mrtraveler01: DamnYankees: WhyteRaven74: Practical_Draconian: Istanbul, Madrid or Tokyo.

Prolly Tokyo.

I disagree. They tend to rotate by region. From 1980 onwards its been:

Europe, North America, Asia, Europe, North America, Oceania, Europe, Asia, Europe, South America

I think North America will get it in 2020. Probably Chicago or New York, maybe Mexico City or Toronto.

They already have their short list for 2020 already.

It's either going to be Tokyo, Istanbul, or Mardid.

My money is on Istanbul to "make a statement" like they're about to do with Rio 2016.

I think Istanbul stands a good chance as well since it will be the 1st Muslim country to ever host the Olympic games. There is however a risk to picking Turkey because while it is a stable country compared to the other Islamic country it's stll shaky compared to Spain or Japan.

There is also a resurgence of Islamic politicals parties there as well which may make the Olympic games kinda sucky if they were to be chosen and one of these parties become the controling government by 2020..

themeaningoflifeisnot: At least in London and Major Euro cities.

Here's the thing, when terror attacks happen in European cities, people don't shiat themselves and think the world is ending. They get on with life. I was in Paris a while back, which by then had see a few attacks. You'd have never known it walking around or talking to any Parisians.

themeaningoflifeisnot: DamnYankees: themeaningoflifeisnot: It's kind of a,axing that there were no terrorist attacks on these Olympics. A testament to all the work London and GB put into security.

It's also evidence that we are vastly over-scared of terrorism.

Considering the London attacks after it was announced that they got the Olympics, I'm not so sure about that. At least in London and Major Euro cities.

In the last 10 years, I believe that and the Madrid bombings has been the only terrorist bombings in the West. About 250 total deaths. Obviously tragic and sad, but hardly world-ending. In general, our attitude towards terrorism is not based on any rational cost-benefit analysis is all I'm saying.

WhyteRaven74: themeaningoflifeisnot: A testament to all the work London and GB put into security.

They could have had no security and there'd have been no attacks.

Why would you say that? I'm no right wing hawk, but I think London has a legitimate fear of terrorism. Especially after the attacks related to the Olympics just a few years ago.

I wouldn't count on it. Having it in the same time zone means most competitions will be happening during the daytime. They will still push that stuff to prime time.

They'll do it just because they can, and to in$ert a$ many commercial$ a$ they can.

I like the fact that not only did they give the wrong time change (it's 2 hours not 1), but they said that would be a problem.

\is this due from the Brazilian ICP?

So...we don't get the vocals because it's in Brazilian Portuguese, right? Since we won't understand them we don't get to hear them?

Who said anything about shiatting themselves? I noted that the Games are obviously a prime target for terrorists and that GB appears to have done a good job with security. That's hardly controversial or provocative.

themeaningoflifeisnot: ut I think London has a legitimate fear of terrorism.

London has had terror attacks before. Didn't make them scared. The last one didn't change anything. Being afraid is what terrorists want. Not being afraid takes away their goal.

Kenny B: The dude with the broom wearing a County Jail jumpsuit?

Actually that's the sort of outfit street sweepers wear in many countries.

Most of these "next city" presentations are. They don't have access to the resources to put on a major spectacle in another country.

Daylight savings for us and not them makes it 1 instead of 2.

Absolutely. We need to have security. But tons more people die needlessly from texting while driving, for example, than from terrorism. And no one is scared of that, really.

This is a sidetrack though. Back to this boring presentation.
