Wow. After all these years of 'journalism', Geraldo actually performed a public service.

Not that I"m complaining about GLenn Beck losing, but, Geraldo? Really?

What dirt does he have on people that he's stayed in the media so long? How can anybody watch him and that awful moustache?

Insult the man all you like, but don't insult his mustache!

The Mustache is a well respected part of a serious journalist's arsenal.

Darn it sounds like it is a real show I always thought Geraldo would do a really good job with the Coast to Coast Aliens crowd.

I'm trying to figure out if this is an improvement or not. It kinda sounds like leaving a room full of biting mosquitoes and walking into a room full of rotting milk jugs.

The show has had abysmal ratings in its LA Flagship market

I see this as a way to get rid of right-wing pundits so the long process of redefining the Republican Party can continue. Beck has no place in the new Republican Party that will start in January 2013.

You're half right, but in my opinion the new Republican Party will start in January 2021 after the derp brigade blames this loss on the RINO and goes full retard until 2016 when someone like Bachmann or Santorum loses in such a landslide that the 1%'ers and corporations deem the tea party unsustainable and decide to isolate them financially.

Does anyone else remember the mid 70s when Geraldo Rivera was actually pretty cool and respected?

I remember listening to Cheech and Chong ride his ass long before I knew who he was.

I'm more with the second opinion: if the teabaggers prevent the Republicans from taking the Senate and winning the Presidency, as I think they will, they'll just double down on the derp.

I'd just like to say that I'm happy to see this headline found its way to the correct tab.

He's 70 years old and was a lawyer in the 1960's.

Will Geraldo talk at length about how Rod Blagojevich is still an innocent man? That's weapons-grade derp there.

Who still listens to the radio?

You can get news and weather reports on your phone and iPods have enabled people to walk and drive around with a pocket sized jukebox.

iPod plugs into the cigarette lighter. Music and podcasts at the ready.

Plus, I've got my phone on me. If I want to hear a blowhard ranting for the duration of my commute, I could just call my Tea Party supporting aunt.

Um....speaking as a guy who produces local radio shows, we do very well and LOTS of people still listen.
Don't believe the derp of satellite and ipods taking over.
While I listen to some music on my ipod, I can't stand podcasts and listen to local radio when I can.

Geraldo's at least been willing to buck the conservative establishment now and then, so he's better than Beck in that regard.

The commercials make it unlistenable. Satellite with no commercials is the only way to go.

Is that when when everyone in the GOP starts pointing fingers and blaming each other because they somehow lost to a black man with a funny name (again!)?

Ah, the old "higher ratings" bit. Where you're actually proud that more of you tune in to be barked at by junkyard dogs spewing lies and rabies everywhere.

Fox News is the highest rated cable 'news' network. It's also widely known to be full of sh*t. Yet you folks brag about it. The way I see it, it just means conservatives are dumber, angrier, and easier to rope in with propaganda. Hell, I'm glad MSNBC is last in ratings. It means we're too busy reading actual news to care about having our opinions validated. That, or we're too busy getting laid.

Good for you. I regard local radio as a humanizing touch along life's literal highway. Plenty of people want to hear local weather reports and high school ball scores without worrying about bandwidth, subscriptions, contracts or what have you.

Glenn Beck's streaming internet/roku/xbox..etc channel has more subscribers than Foxnews, CNN and MSNBC has viewers. He made over 90 million dollars last year and just signed a 100 million dollar 5 year contract with clear channel. Cumulus who syndicates Geraldo Rivera recently dropped Beck,Limbaugh, coasttocoast, Hannity from their SF stations they just moved to clear channel own stations and are doing fine which is what's going to happen here. Beck will go from XXXam to XXXfm He's laughing all the way to the bank you're posting to stupid threads.

Phoenix_M: Beck will go from XXXam to XXXfm He's laughing all the way to the bank you're posting to stupid threads.

And you just made my point for me. Beck and his ilk draw more listeners than his 'liberal' counterparts because conservatives thrive on paranoia and fear.

I'm glad Beck makes money, Good for him. I'll keep being lower middle class and "posting to stupid threads," knowing at least that my like-minded brethren aren't gathering around a talk-box to be told what to think that day.

2012-08-13 09:16:03 AM
not shocking to see Geraldo added to more stations - Cumulus has been pretty aggressive about syndicating their own talent to their own stations since they bought Citadel and the old ABC network last year. even if they pull in half the ratings Beck had in those markets, they still make more money owning the show themselves. look for them to do the same thing with Huckabee replacing Rush on their stations when those contracts are up

/works in radio
//really not that proud of that fact

The only reason I have satellite is because every damn sports station where I live (3 of them) has Jim Rome on in the afternoon, and that is just unacceptable.

Who knew that liberals did all the work for this country to pick up the dead weight from the bitter retirees and spoiled rich brats who sat at home in the afternoons and waited for the world to burn?

Yes. That is precisely what I'm saying. You make it sound like a bad thing. All the evidence is there for you to ponder. Non-conservatives comprise roughly half of the country (we ping-pong between Dem and GOP Congress and Executive) yet conservatives own nearly all the rabid foam-at-mouth media brigade. What does that tell you?
