A dump pass to Donald Brown, so, while nice for Luck, that TD was mostly Brown and an inept preseason Rams defense.

A two-yard pass with 63 YAC, you mean?

2012-08-12 05:09:36 PM
Preseason doesn't count

2012-08-12 05:09:54 PM
Yeah, because preseason games count.

2012-08-12 05:13:43 PM
It's against the Rams. So even in the regular season, it really shouldn't count.

2012-08-12 05:16:25 PM
If preseason meant shiat, then Michael Vick would be riding the bench while Nick Foles led the Eagles to the Super Bowl

^^^^

He did look pretty good, though, but against the Rams, its hard to tell.

2012-08-12 06:50:59 PM
So what position is he going to play on that defense to help them?

I could've completed that pass

Big deal. Matt Ryan threw a touchdown on his first pass in the NFL too, and it was actually a real game!

I see that I'm not needed here.

But hey! Bradford was 7 for 9 the two series he did play. Maybe we can finally get something going on the offense for once.

But with our luck, it's going to come with the risk of screwing up our defense.

Why the hell does this mean -anything-?

If 65 yard passes in preseason is Hall worthy, then Canton needs a whole wing dedicated to the man who holds the record for the longest pass in Super Bowl History. Having an award named after him isn't enough.

2012-08-12 08:17:35 PM
Pretty sure I could do that against the Rams

Oh yeah, he definitely was looking pretty impressive considering those were his first professional snaps. Just saying it is very easy to read too much into preseason games

I'd be happy to design the exhibit, too. I have an idea based off something I saw at Patriots Point. You walk into a dark corridor, and motion sensors trigger video monitors on either side of you. It opens with footage of the first drive in that game, when Jon Stewart scored the first TD. The next series of monitors you walk past then show replays of each successive Jake Mistake, all while Daniel Powter's "Bad Day" slowly plays louder and louder as each sensor along the line is triggered. At the end, you see the footage of Jake with his hands covering his face, and a sign behind that saying "Welcome to the Wing of Shame", dedicated to all of the moments in the history of the sport that have gone horribly wrong.

Nick Foles did look pretty good in that game. I know it's just preseason, but still, I was kind of impressed with the kid. :)

/didn't see Luck play today, although I did get cut off by a car with a license plate referencing him
//cool story sis

So, do we now count preseason stats?

2012-08-12 08:34:17 PM
LOL why can't you cranky old farts just say some shiat congratulating the kid on his first NFL pass, which happened to be for a touchdown instead of being such douches about it.

Hell Manning's first pass in preseason went for a TD too. It doesn't mean anything but damn why shiat on him for it.

Still don't think I've come to terms with Manning-less Colts. What's weird about the whole thing is that if Manning would've retired, I'd have no ill feelings whatsoever.

/Really want Luck to do well.

No one is giving Luck shiat for throwing a touchdown pass. They're giving subby shiat for caring about it.

I DNRTFA but I heard peytons first preseason pass as a colt was also a TD. Wacky world of sports

kronicfeld: A two-yard pass with 63 YAC, you mean?

Montana made a career of them so what's your point?

2012-08-12 09:28:28 PM
I'm a huge Colts and Bengals fan (hooray growing up in Ohio and moving to Indy) and even I know that preseason doesn't mean shiat. Peyton would screw the pooch year and year in preseason and go off in the regular season. I'm surprised they had Luck in as long as they did. He looks promising but setting him up for the HOF is beyond premature.

2012-08-12 09:36:29 PM
What I like about the Rams is they manage to make my Dolphins look good, which is no easy task.

While threading a small area and leading receivers so only they could catch them, I always laughed when people said that while he was playing because inevitably the next pass would be 45 yards down the field, on target, to a running receiver.

Every receiver will say that he had the softest passes to catch too, if you cant be a success as a receiver with him then you sucks as a receiver.

2012-08-12 10:10:33 PM
The impressive part of that play was being able to keep his composure and read the check-down with pressure in his face. Regardless of the outcome (which came about because of the guy who caught the ball), it was an impressive play.

Good the Broncos need a receiver that's played for more than a few seasons.

I believe he is referring to the fact that the lions went 4-0 in the preseason, then 0-16 in the regular season

I got to watch Foles for three years here at Arizona. Dude has a hell of a work ethic, good football IQ, he can throw soft fades or frozen ropes, and he's a great leader. He also threw for 10,000+ yards in only 35 games. Doesn't guarantee anything, but I like his chances to do well in the league.

Also got to see Luck twice. He's unbelievably farking good. He's more impressive in person, because you can see how he can dissect a secondary, instead of being restricted to whatever views the TV cameras have.

Because he's a goddam Colt and they sucked on purpose to get him.
