God, I'm so old I remember when the Discovery channel had interesting programming, relating to things like science and history.

Waiting for "Extreme Garbagemen" and "Oil Changers to the Stars."

For God's sake, don't give them any ideas!!

I remember one drunken night in 2000 sending them an email stating they were heading down a path which would only lead to things like this and that it was unnecessary and they needed to be a bastion of quality programming so others could follow suit.

I'm assuming it made it to marketing and someone deleted it while they were on the crapper.

Game Show Network has ordered a reality show about a family owned auto dealership.

...no, seriously. Game Show Network. The network that used to air game shows.

At least Discovery still has some interesting shows (read: any that aren't reality series), and Shark Week started today.

The Science Channel is still my pick, though, since it has Mythbusters, How It's Made, and all the other good series.

Invention shows haven't lasted more than a dozen episodes before they fizzle. The last one that came close to a second season had the lead drop dead from a heart attack.

And I think the reality of this bit of reality is that it doesn't make for Reality TV. You can stage storage lockers and invent numbers all day, but actually taking an idea from nothing to market has a hundred failures to achieve success. Then it's as likely to be bomb as not, and even if you push it with a hundred million dollar advertising budget.

Oh, and reading the press release for this show, it mentioned everything Stacy Keibler ever did... except her time in WWE.

I bet that's driving ol' Senile Vince up a wall, and every WWE RAW will have a "DID YOU KNOW" factoid about how Stacy Keibler used to work for him.

scrap the show. Keep Stacy Keibler. Change the title to "An hour of Stacy Keilber in really short shorts".

Farking hate that show. Made by pedophiles for pedophiles. Those mothers need to be injected with rattlesnake venom and their children de-programmed back into normal human beings.

Is it really hoarding if everything is meticulously organized, MiB and called a collection?

So... now what does it mean if you want to do it like they do on the Discovery Channel?

Truckers and loggers, sounds like a total sausagefest.

I found the duck dynasty show kind of amusing (i get a very odd channel at the family cottage).

First, submitter, this is LIFETIME, not DISCOVERY.

Second:

I'd buy groceries from her any time.

They're owned by different companies (Discovery is its own entity, while Lifetime is jointly owned by
Hearst and Disney), but I guess you have a point.

I sure hope they pick up the pilot for my new show, "People With Jobs That Can Be Edited Down To A Mildly Interesting Dramatic Arc, Possibly Involving Other People's Old Junk That Sometimes Turns Out To Be Valuable." I really think it has potential!

I thought that some other network already had a show like this already, do we really need another one?

In this context, Mint in Box. No geek points for you, better luck in the lightning round.
