No, he was captured by the gov't. Then years later there was a TV movie that I didn't see.

Nothing good can come of this.

Mugato: She looks like a Jewish Jules from Psych.

Joke is wayyyyyy older than that.

Hell, the Unknown Comic did it on The Gong Show, and I doubt even he invented it.

Unknown Comic: "Hey, Chuckie, Chuckie, come here, Chuckie. What's the difference between a shower curtain and toilet paper?"
Chuck Barris: "I don't know."
Unknown Comic: "Everyone, this is the guy!"

She ran someone over with her car, while she was talking on her cell phone, and killed them. Then she just kinda faded away.

Mrbogey: Hand Banana: Alf was also a total racist: Link

I remember a few years ago that making the rounds. The deal was that there was a Law & Order episode, or some such cop show, where a character with Tourette's Syndrome was on. Alf's puppeteer was making fun of a tense scene where the guy kept yelling obscenities and slurs.

I remember seeing that video before. He was making fun of Law & Order there. Most people do not remember that though.

Hand Banana: TV Land already tried to revive ALF a few years ago and it flopped big time.

It aired for 7 episodes in 2004. Most comeback attempts do not work unfortuantely.

Yeah, he of the Crocoduck and "bananas are proof of God" fame. He also made everyone's life on set a living hell with his born-again idiocy, as I believe the above article mentions.

It was L.A. Law (YouTube)
ALF and L.A. Law both aired on NBC. I'd guess people on other shows, who regularly had to deal with network standards and practices, tended to be a bit cynical about occasions when exceptions were made, particularly in this case where it seemed L.A. Law was walking a line between sensitive education about a disease and playing it for laughs.

And that "movie" appeared to be cobbled together from the in-the-can bits and pieces of the aborted following season, with a Bob-awful script to fill in all the blank spots. He might as well have died.

SamFlagg

I remember being sad to near the point of tears when Alf got captured by the government, and then subsequently there wasn't an ending.

I recorded the whole run of the sitcom, and the last ep of the last season ended with "To Be Continued" over the last scene. When the season's re-runs reached that ep, the words were absent.

Both the sitcom and the animated show had a knack for biting the hand that fed them. I'd guess the tooth marks got deeper when the producers didn't get the contracts renewed. It was particularly obvious in the AlfTales scripts. Mr. Network Executive was a recurring character in one form or another. For "Sleeping Beauty" Gordon is introducing the story when the "Roger Cohen from the Network" walks in and informs him that "our research shows that less than two percent of our audience lives in the Dark Ages" and adds a bunch of stuff to the setting to make it more "familiar" for the kids at home; assorted electronic gear, and a tank. Gordon's response: "Gee, can't you just feel those ratings skyrocket."

home.earthlink.net

The real mood-marker was in "Rap-unzel" where, after succeeding in breaking the Witch's monopoly on the airwaves (Sony's gonna produce this movie? HAH!) Gordon persuades the doddering hands-off-management Reagan-esque King to create "three TV networks. Please meet the heads of these networks: Brandon Tartarblank, Brandon Stubborn, and just plain Brandon." The three are identical caricature clones of then-NBC head, Brandon Tartikoff. (Those are from the DVD. I'm recalling the aired names of the first two clones as Brandon Tartarplaque and Brandon Tartarsauce, but I'm not up to digging through VHS tapes to confirm that.)

Sony? Go be An Hero.

2012-08-13 03:08:40 AM

Forgot something. After the networks heads are introduced, King Regan announces "the formation of The Federal Communications Commission, to make sure than nobody ever tries to take control of TV or radio again."

HAH!
