Curious amount of derp stacking up in the article comments section.

"this is part of the post-9/11 militarization of the police in the USA [...] i don't think it has anything to do with 9/11, except maybe the dept of homeland security being a big source of federal dollars to local law enforcement."

"Body armor is caused by an exclusive, ' separated from the rest of us ' plutocracy. A primitive form of running humanity."

"Mankind buys more technology" and "Being bulletproof proves popular among people with guns" = "The Rothschilds are coming! The Rothschilds are coming!!"

...Sometimes I wonder about humanity.

billrla at 10:43 AM August 12, 2012: Glad to see these products made right here at home, by people who care about quality and the customer, rather than about shaving pennies.

Shaved pennies make great weapons, but poor armor.

You create what you fear.

/No matter how much kevlar you're wearing, ice picks will still go in your ear and arrows will still go through your body.

If I recall correctly: Kevlar is strong in tensile forces, but brittle. It doesn't take well to shearing cutting forces.
Not that a knife would get through that easily tho. There is a bigger danger that the stabber could catch you in an unarmored part of the body.

/It would probably stop most arrows.
