It is funny because the Democrats are supposed to be all " free speech" and we respect your ideas. Guess the TSA didn't like it much at all

Is anyone actually surprised?

This was on reddit yesterday.

Here is what is on reddit today.

Overly dramatic sensationalized subject gets over 2000 upvotes: "The White House has removed a petition about the TSA airport screening procedures from the White House "We the People" website. About 22,500 of the 25,000 signatures necessary for a response from the Administration had been obtained."
hmm.. that's weird of them.. So.. why would they do that?
[2] Answer found in comments all the way at the bottom.
They only had until the 9th to get the required signatures. Come on guys.
TL;DR: Reddit Politics foamed at mouth over White House taking down online petition as scheduled.

you think the Republicans would act any differently? hmm...well, actually now that I think about it...they GOP would take all those names and put them on a watch list.

*sigh*

we're not going to get rid of our security theater, just like we're not going to legalize cannabis (the subject of an earlier petition that was also ignored). the reasons for both petitions being ignore have nothing to do with Republicans or Democrats, it has to do with the fact that we're an authoritarian government that will NEVER reduce it's own power. right wing, left wing, Republican, Democrat...when was the last time you saw anyone from either party actually reduce their own levels of power and influence? I can't remember that ever happening.

When you've already refused to obey a court order on the matter, what makes you think a petition asking why you refuse to obey that court order will be more effective?

However, they have managed to trigger the Streisand effect now, so well done.

Came in here to note that it had simply expired as designed, leaving satisfied.

Also, do you people really think that petition would do anything?

Given that nudie-scans are becoming required to fly between almost any significant international airport, what do you want the US to do? Stop doing them and just not fly to Heathrow or Charles de Gaulle?

This is something that has to be sorted out on an international level.

A link from a week ago further explains the petition expires on August 9th

FTL: If we get 25,000 by August 9th, the government will respond. I doubt they'll capitulate, but it will be a press event that will put even more pressure on the TSA.

Talk about shiatty timing. And so close, too.

The only surprise actually is that people believed in his hopey changey schtick.

Note to people: If Rmoney and rAYN win in November all your petty arguments and temper tantrums will be in vail, because you'll be too busy looking in dumpsters for food.

The only people who win are the rich and pundits, whose fortunes depend on fomenting outrage between the two sides. And most of them are rich, so...

...and apparently in much the same fashion as other petitions that have not reached the threshold have done.
22k is close; but close only counts in horseshoes, hand grenades, and H-Bombs. Not petitions; just ask Newt.

BullBearMS: When you've already refused to obey a court order on the matter, what makes you think a petition asking why you refuse to obey that court order will be more effective?

Because a judge only has one vote on election day?

BullBearMS: However, they have managed to trigger the Streisand effect now, so well done.

Solution is pretty simple.
First, create a "new" petition, with almost identical wording. Start trying to count to 25000 in less than 30 days, again.

Second, start a petition asking that petitions which do not reach the threshold be closed, but left in place. Maybe add some legalish language about preservation of presidential records or some such.

Oh look, the usual derp from a troll who apparently did not read the thread. Did you not notice the earlier comments poiting out that the petition expired on schedule, or are you just sufficiently dishonest to ignore it in order to take any opportunity to squeeze out another threadshiat?

Hmm, thinking about it, I suppose you being stupid and you being venal aren't mutually exclusive. I'm perfectly willing to believe you're both dumb and a liar.

Don't threadjack. This isn't about the TSA.

Obots have given us a great choice. If anything goes right it's due to Obama. If anything goes wrong you had unrealistic expectations that it could go right and you need to grow up and understand the way the world is.

of course...if you fight against the TSA that makes you a librul, doesn't it? that's quite a problem for you...I mean, you have to let a government dude fondle your balls in order to be a 'good conservative'...which is kinda gay. Only 'libruls' fight against having their junk fondled by the TSA these days.

So much failure, so few actual meaningful statements. I repeat, notice that the petition expired after 30 days, exactly as it was supposed to according to the announced rules of the site. Everything is exactly as transparent as promised.

But of course you're too much of a dishonest partisan shill to admit that. So you just go on lying, we will go on laughing at you.

Threadshiating, how does that work?

If you want to discuss the TSA policies:
1. go find an article about it
2. write a funny headline
3. get it greenlit
4. discuss it on fark

wtf are you going off topic and threadshiating?

Obama should have used his presidential powers to keep the petition up past the date it was expired at, this is an injustice beyond anything that has been done before. You are absolutley right this needs a full investigation, Issa is asleep at the wheel here. This may call for UN intevention. Never before in the history of our country has something on a website been removed when it said it was going to be.

Reddit has a fair amount of control freak mods that expliciy censor and shadow censor ( so your comment appears when you look at it but not when anybody else looks at it ).

It's a waste of time and has far too many high school kids.

Really? So why was it listed to expire when it did a week ago when it was well below the necessary number?

Also, just what kind of groundswell of support do you think you can claim when you can't even manage 25,000 people to agree with you out of 310 million Americans?

It only needed 2500 more signatures and that couldn't be mustered. In order to get the TSA to comply with a court order.

The next time I hear someone complain about getting groped I will come to their house and punch them in their nose.~
