Didn't he also break his leg running his leg in the qualifier, and still finish? Perseverance is akin to sainthood in the Olympics

Like its hard to get shot in America nowadays...Did he actually win any medals, because that would be much more original?

In a clear cut case of shoddy journalism, I had to click their hyperlink about the gang related shooting 4 years ago to find out if "gang-related" meant runner was a former gang-member ... or not.

/aren't you dying to find out? Go back to TFA and give them more clicks!!!

Off topic, but it's bugging me:
The ad on the sidebar for weeks has been misspelling Sara Petersen's name as "Sara PetersOn"

www3.pictures.zimbio.com

I'll be honest, I probably only noticed because I have the same last name, and people have been misspelling it the same way my entire life and I constantly have to correct it (teachers did it in school, employers on work documents, etc etc).

I really hate the violence culture in America. Seems every movie and TV show has to have guns, police. And rap songs glorify "thugs" and gangs. No I don't care one way or another about your second amendment rights, I mean keep all your guns I don't care and fine don't do gun control so you can have your guns. Just saying that somehow it's normal that gangs exist and somehow it's normal an Olympian was shot by one is that the TV and movie and music industry all normalizes them.

OriginalGamer So pronounce it like "Peter-send" without the "d" instead of like "Peter-sun"? English, how does it work. Might be truer to actual Danish or whatever roots your name comes from. Just sayin'.

I DON'T. I don't watch that stuff. But that "stuff" glorifies and normalizes Olympic Guy getting shot, because well you know it's normal for gangs to make mistakes and shoot people who it turns out weren't in rival gangs.

subby: The Olympian who will be the United States flag bearer for the closing ceremonies is a runner who was shot in a gang related incident 4 years a go. Disney currently working on the rights to his movie scheming to make a movie obviously about him labeled "based on a true story" to avoid paying him a goddamn cent

FTFY, subby. Disney never pays anyone shiat for anything unless they're 100% sure the other side already has enough money to win the court case.

Nope, that's a different guy.

When the "party of personal responsibility" is also the one that yells loudest when anyone even thinks of any sort of gun legislation...no, no it doesn't.

I've noticed that crowing about "personal responsibility" is a technique the mediocre use to congratulate themselves. It's basically the white guy's "I ain't never been to prison. I take care of my kids."
