Their biological daughter's what isn't vaccinated?

Atypical Person Reading Fark: Their biological daughter's what isn't vaccinated?

They're partially vaccinated.

But those "philosophical" reasons are

"I feel like if I knew every ingredient that was in each shot I would comfortable to make an educated decision," said Susann.

not philosophical at all. The family's a buncha muncha cruncha morons trying to leverage the state's rules with a sob story in a yellow rag rather than just giving their daughter some shots and being eligible to help foster some kids too.

2012-08-11 01:58:06 AM
Let me try to muster up some sympathy for an anti-vaxer..... Nope.

2012-08-11 02:00:09 AM
So Susann thinks she knows the biochemical properties of every molecule? Fascinating. Poor Susann.

Makes sense not to allow it though, with whooping cough on the rise, etc., due to anti-vaxers.

2012-08-11 02:03:42 AM
Hope the tag is for the family.

"I feel like if I knew every ingredient that was in each shot I would comfortable to make an educated decision," said Susann.

Really? Cuz theyre right there on the label if you ask. I mean you probably wont understand a lot of it if youre not a biochemist or something, but theres nothing secret, everything is patented and has to be disclosed. And nobodys used thiomersal in vaccines since probably before any of your children were born, so really, quit your biatching.

fark antivaxxers. Stick em all on an island and let em die off.

Also lets abolish the apostrophe. Its misuse leads to more confusion and ambiguity than its disuse would.

2012-08-11 02:57:05 AM
The "Stupid" tag is for these parents, of course. I notice that no mention is made of the stupidity, er philosophy, that stops them from sometimes vaccinating their own children.

2012-08-11 04:11:31 AM
Annnd... I'm okay with this!

Stop endangering everyone around you, farkwads.

so their "philosophy" is more important than taking in a foster child? that right there tells me they shouldn't be fostering.

2012-08-11 05:52:14 AM
oh i see, they've already addressed this issue.
FTA: "But at the same time why should we be forced to do something that we don't necessarily agree with?" questioned Dan.

BECAUSE YOU WANT TO FOSTER and your children's health should be more important than your ignorant grasp of modern science.

2012-08-11 06:03:22 AM
You know what? I'm OK with this.

/goddamn antivaxxers.

2012-08-11 06:05:39 AM
No, subby. The state won't let the couple have the foster kids because they don't want the foster kids to die of a disease that science has otherwise eradicated.

The state doesn't want these numbers to increase.

2012-08-11 06:10:53 AM
Its frustrating to watch an anti-vaxxer try to defend their reasons, each time you explain the fundamental reasons why vaccinations benefiting the greater good trump their personal and unfounded fears they just kind of glaze over and reboot. Over and over, if only there was a cure for antivaxxer syndrome.

And unless you have a PhD in biochemistry on top of mountains of experience to go along with it. What good is that going to do you?

How your body transforms even simple sugar in to energy for you is a complicated as hell process.

This.

When I saw there had been multiple deaths due to whooping cough, and the media's desperate attempts to blame it on somehow adults getting it again later in life...I wanted something evil and bad to happen to all antivaxers. Like having to watch their kids die of a TOTALLY PREVENTABLE DISEASE.

But this will do just fine.

It's cognitive dissonance at it's best. Anything they can't explain away with poor science gets the conspiracy theory treatment. "THAT'S WHAT THEY* WANT YOU TO BELIEVE!"

Although I still remember the Krebs Cycle, and it's been over 20 years since I was taught it, so it can't be all that difficult a concept.

Good. Can't protect all of the children that enter foster care as well as I'd like, but when something as obvious as antivaxxing is compromising a child's health, I'm glad the situation can be avoided by denying the couple. I hope for the biological kids' sake that they never have to pay for the ignorant fears of their parents.

Even if somebody told her, she'd demand knowing what each component of each ingredient is, and then the possible side effects of each molecule on the human body. And THEN she'd start with the "Well, what if--?" unanswerable questions and then say she lacked the information to make an educated decision.

It's all b/s

They should have cited religious exemptions as a reason for not getting vaccines; it carries more weight.

i heard some woman in ashland say we needed to let kids get sick with these diseases and not vaccinate because it was natural. at one time an infant mortality rate of 50% was natural too.

I'm betting their philosophical / moral reason for not vaccinating is just one of the usual debunked anti-vax talking points. Whatever the reason be it philosophical or religious, not vaccinating is an incredibly ignorant and selfish thing to do.

The law really should allow these idiots to be prosecuted if their child becomes infected or infects someone else due to their negligence.

Why is the law written to allow religion to act as a get-out-of-reality card?

Don't wait till after an outbreak, it is neglect, act on it as such. Start with CPS involvement end with removal and termination of parental rights if needed. Eliminate religious exemptions as well.
