zamboni: mikaloyd: So gold medal wonner let me show you the science of how that tape you use sucks.

So internet sports expert let me show you the gold medal I won while using the tape.

So gold medal winner let me show you this rock I use to keep tigers away.

Your rock seems to be 600 grain piece of lead Scientists assure me that there is no possible manner in which a tiger can ingest such a small amoint and suffer any long term harm. Your rock will not have any effect upon a tiger.

It will when I send it out of the business end of a .460 Weatherby Magnum. That will be one kept away tiger.

zamboni: Eddie T. Head: ThisIsntMe: Lee's_Austin: count_chimpula: Lee's_Austin: They (science) said the same thing about Duck Tape. Now it's in everyone's garage and a significant item to everyone's fallout shelter.

Oh please, everyone knows that the only way that you can survive a nuclear attack is by climbing inside a refrigerator.

Little Known Fact: Indiana Jones had a roll of Duck Tape stored on his person at all times. It's how he beat the Nazis, Communism and leaky pipes.

What the Fark is Duck tape? I use duct tape rather often. It's grey and sticky as heck, tapes up air ducts and such, which is why it's grey I guess.

Duck tape. A brand name of duct tape and other products. Link

And duck, or duct tape, as many prefer, isn't actually that great to use on duct work. Foil tape is much better in the conditions that ducts find themselves.

rka: basemetal: rka: basemetal: Hey, subbs, that tape may be useless, but when you have your nose all stopped up from a summer cold, those breathe right strips help a lot.

Eh..not really. This link is is specifically for sports effects, but it basically concludes that there is no measurable increase in air flow at all.

Behold the power of marketing and confirmation bias. You believed the ad, you spent the money, the last thing your delicate psyche wants to admit is that you were wrong. Happens all the time.

That's funny, because everyone I've ever told to do that to help them sleep with a cold, told me thanks for that tip later.

Maybe they know you are a crazy person who shouldn't be made to confront reality.

So, all of those people are wrong, but you are right? They have meds for that.

Probably should give some to every scientist who has ever published a study as well.

But you're probably right, you and your friends just miraculously confound science at every turn.

It's probably the power of prayer. People swear that totally works too.

Science would claim my favorite teams probably don't start losing just because my wife comes in the room and starts talking to me, too. But that doesn't mean that after the opponent scores 14 points in the two minutes she's present after my team had built up a comfortable lead, that I'm going to encourage her to come in and sit down and ask her to keep watching with me.

/if they started winning when she came in, that would be a different story
//that also NEVER happens

I hesitate to mention tell my CSB but this seems like an ideal time to report my own experience.

I run somewhat regularly and being a runner I know people who use the tape or phiten dots. Count me as a complete skeptic. I never used them before and always kind of scoffed at them or the wrist/neck bracelets athletes wear.

My right knee had really been bothering me, so much so that I finally told Mrs. Relax that would try Phiten. Any port in a storm and all that but I didn't expect anything. Much to my surprise I woke up the next morning with zero knee pain. None.

I wore the dots for two days and then peeled them off. Tested my knee with a couple mile walk the following day and the pain comes back. More Phiten dots that night, no pain the next day.

I am very skeptical of stuff like this, especially when their web site starts talking about 'aligning energies' and things of that nature. Believe me when I say nobody was more surprised by this result than me. I'm not sure how it works but I know I had zero pain in my knee for the next couple of days. I don't know what the long term side effects are and I haven't started using it regularly or anything but this CSB is 100% my own experience. I'm aware of the placebo effect but I wasn't expecting it to do anything which I would think excludes placebo.

So anyway subs/haters can blow me
