Hell, I used to get beaten for NOT looking like my dad

I could never understand the non-reasoning reasons for beating an innocent child because they did or did not resemble someone. The child has no control about who they do or don't look like.

I've been complemented because I looked like someone else once. I still don't know how to respond to that.

A little harsh, but not unlike being victimized by your mother for being the reason her marriage ended and still being legitimate.

As someone who was routinely beaten by his stepfather and mother for, among other "reasons" given, looking like his dad: I hope they throw the book at her instead of letting her off with a slap on the wrist and some family counseling BS.

(no offense to any family counselors or child protective services people here, it's just that I feel that if the situation has gotten this bad it's probably in the child's best interest to take her out completely out of that situation)

This is hardly unusual or surprising. Child-batterers often abuse children because they remind them of a former or deadbeat spouse.

Or you get that charming non-physical abuse "You're just like your no-good dad and you'll end up just like him, rotting in some shallow grave." Or: "You're a worthless whore just like your slut mother."

Abuse isn't very original, you know.
