North Haven First Selectman Michael Freda said town officials are not trying to take the bunny away from the girl, but are instead trying to get Josh Lidsky to respond to neighbors' complaints about blighted conditions on his property.

In May, town officials inspected the property and asked Lidsky to take several actions, including removing the rabbit hutch, replacing missing siding on his house and repairing an unfinished addition.

Lidsky says he's appealing Hausman's order about the rabbit to the town's Zoning Board of Appeals, but he's willing to clean up his yard.

"The whole story is about my daughter and the bunny," Lidsky told the New Haven Register.

This story is bullshiat. The guy is a lazy fark who won't repair his property or even finish an addition he started. The town has likely been fighting him for years about it and now that they have the livestock ordinance to use against him it's their last resort, and he's pushing his daughter out into the spotlight for the tearjerker effect. He knows it'll all go away if he complies with their complaints but he wants to prolong it by calling attention to his kid's rabbit.

Actually they are not rodents, and haven't been classified as such for about 100 years. Lagomorpha is considered its own taxonomic order.
