I'm so glad I have a Saeco automatic coffee machine. I can't believe people line up to pay 5-6$ for something I can make in 5 minutes (from a cold start) for about 50 cents.

Plus I can drink it naked.

"Using the app, Square enables merchants to identify customers so that they don't have to even take their phones out of their pockets. Merchants can see a photo of the customers, who just have to identify themselves with their names."

Damn, that's convenient. I absolutely hate having to drag out a debit card and type in a PIN, or worse, sign a CC receipt. Combined with Mint to keep track of how much I've spent so far, spending money couldn't get any easier.

I wonder how this compares with iOS 6 Passbook, or does it use that new service?

A regular size cup of coffee is $2, which is the same price pretty much everywhere around here except for the gas station, in which case you probably already got a loan to fill the tank. Yeah, you can add foo foo stuff to it to increase the price, but unless your Saeco froths the milk and adds a shot of Bac-Os, you're not saving as much as you think.

/also kinda hard to lug a coffee machine when on the road
//before you ask, I do brew at home using a manual drip

I'm saving plenty. The coffee I buy on special only. Milk is cheap, and I don't drink milk otherwise so a 1L carton lasts me a week.

I add vanilla and a bit of sugar to the milk.

I don't know what you mean by "on the road". Are talking commute or week-long trips?

A venti mocha and a scone will set you back about $6, subby. I suggest you work on your personal finances.

Their regular coffee tastes like burnt shiat. Their caramel frappucinos, on the other hand, are awesome. And I haven't figured out how to make one of those at home, even using top secret recipes.

And the mobile app I'm already using seems easier than the whole "give them your name and they chek your picture (which you know they'll never do)" crap that this seems to be. I just keep my SB card loaded up (which I can do in line) and then wave my phone in front of the special scanner and I'm good to go.

Except you don't even have to put in a PIN or sign anything if it's under $20 or $25 now. Seems to me that swiping my card is hella faster than giving them my name, they pull me up on the register and charge my account if I look like my picture?

I can't make whipped cream with the Saeco. I'd need a nitrous oxide thingy and I just don't drink enough coffee to make it worthwhile. I'm really more of a tea man who slums in coffee land once in a while.

I have grown to hate how people use credit/debit cards for everything... Really? 6 people in line all need to pay for gum with a card? Typing in pin codes waiting for authorization at 7:45 am while I'm getting coffee and smokes building up rage? Get a $5 bill time wasting hipsters!
