Finally figuring out that McDonald's food isn't really food.

Maybe the economy has improved enough that people can afford to eat something other than re-textured barf shaped into a patty.

So long as it's asada or adobado or mole, I don't give a shiat if it's post-menopausal jackal.

Man, if you can't make money selling $1 cheeseburgers, something is very, very wrong. I don't care if they're good, or small, or unhealthy. One. Dollar. Cheese. Burger. If there's no demand either we're all totally destitute or terminally depressed.

Or became mortified when we thought about how a $1 hamburger still turns a profit.

Maybe cuz their food is getting overpriced compared to smaller diners? I can get a very good greek burger, fries and bottomless pop for what a "value combo' costs at Mickey Dees. Including the tip.

Not to mention a Reuban sammich combo. or roast turkey.

Now I am getting hungry.

I doubt that's the problem. More likely, people who were getting the Big Macs are ordering from the dollar menu.

I'm old enough to remember when the McDouble was the BIG burger. Still buy them. We hit Five Guys when we want a really good burger. MD is fuel.

Wendy's is better and only 99 cents.

Farkers: WAAAAHH! My $1 burger doesn't look like the picture!

McDonalds responds by increasing visual look of burgers

Farkers: WAAAAHH! It takes several minutes to get my burger! What ever happened to fast food?

FTFA: "a signal that a weakening global economy is taking a bite out of mainstream diners' discretionary spending."

I'm taking this as proof that the big-business arse-kissers just make up their rationalizations and explanations. Back when recession hit, did not McDonald's sales arrow rise and "they" said it was because people saw it as a good, cheap, available meal?

Now all of a sudden McD's is "discretionary"? I mean, for ME it certainly is, because I hardly ever eat there. But for lots of others who don't know the fundamentals of nutrition ...

The root of the issue is that McDonalds is now expensive enough that better options are available for the same price (Chipoltle, Subway, etc. not to mention regular deli options.
