chevydeuce: Why did the term "midget" fall out of favor? "Dwarf" sounds much more derogative...and "little person" seems pretty open ended....

/have a friend, that at 28 years old is 4'-4", but is proportionally fine, she's a "little person", but doesn't have any dwarfism features

That is what I have always wondered. I mean the official term for obesity is not "large people" plus little people sounds way worse than midget and dwarf sounds like the worst option of all.

Like "midget tossing," they talk about it as if the "little people" who participate are forced to do so against their will :-P

As long as I don't ever have to watch that gawd-awful Ricky Gervais bomb "Life's Too Short' again. Yes, I am a RG fan but that show was just bad, bad, bad.

Late 1970's on ESPN after hours at the bar-
Laugh like an idiot. It was a study in stupidity.

2012, it's still going on?

It used to be funny. The joke is over and worn out.
Now it's just hurtful

If it's hurtful now it should have been hurtful in the 70s as well. Or was it not hurtful then because you thought it was funny, and only now that you are no longer amused has it become hurtful?

I searched for weeks in both Reno and Vegas and was assured this wasn't a real thing.

It was to be the crux of my buddy's bachelor party.

The one with Liam Neeson attempting comedy was brilliant.

I'm pretty sure the guys who make a decent living off redneck entertainment venues with midget bowling and midget tossing events don't have an issue with it.

Individual preference is detrimental to your "identity"?

Check your identity.

Mine rests with me.

What you choose for me is irrelevant.

For I rule me, not you.

You seek money.

And so do I.

We.
