Before the race - "Hey kid, go out there and break a leg!"
After the race - "You damn kids, I don't mean that literally!"

Hero tag?

Really?

What we need is a "Bad Ass" tag. He'd qualify for that.

Question: If the U.S. team gets a medal in the finals, will Mitchellget a medal because he ran in the qualifying heat? Or do the medals only go to the guys who run in the finals?

Heat runners get medals also, they just aren't part of the medal ceremony.

Really, Mitchell must have been at the Transplant Games of America the week before the Olympics and watched me in the 1500 break the 5th metatarsal in my left foot at 1100m, then go on to finish 2nd.

Bravo!

Somebody else here is old enough to remember that Jack Youngblood played the entire 1979 playoffs and Super Bowl with a broken fibula.

How heroic... he was competing in a sport where he injured himself and... ummm... well, the other guys who were competing... errr...

He's tough, I'll give him that... but he didn't even prevent property damage, how is this heroic?
