I'm confused about Bynum to the Sixers.

Ok, since people will debate the "Who was worse Dwight or LeBron" in leaving town"? Here's my best analogy.

A) Dwight is the girlfriend who kisses another guy but is very apologetic afterwards and swears she's faithful only she does it four to five times
or
B) LeBron was the perfect 10, choir girl in the street, demon in the sack for you. She set it up that she knew you were ready to propose only at the last second she invites you to watch her gangbang everyone of your friends and family members

Honestly though, it was whether you hated the slow, wimpy burnout of Dwight or the absolute heart ripping that was the Decision (because no one thought he'd have a special AND leave Cleveland). Not that either isn't justified in wanting to go, just which you think is worse.

I'm not so sure you can absolve Dwight Howard of a media circus of his own creation...the will he won't he story line destroyed the Magic, got a GM and coach fired, and forced their hand while he waffled back and forth for the better part of two years.

Yes, the decision was stupid and the pep rally was retarded...but LeBron played out his games in Cleveland and then left in free agency. Dwight asked for trades, denied it, complained about it, whined about being treated poorly, and never stood behind his decision once.

Except Howard and Nash can still play. Don't forget they picked up Jamison too, think he's going to see a few open outside looks on this team? Hate to say it, but this is now a team that can beat the Thunder. The only x-factor will be if Kobe can reign it in and let Nash run this team.

See that's what doesn't make sense to me. If you're going to trade Howard just trade him for Bynum straight up. Yeah I get Bynum probably didn't want to sign an extension with the Magic but once you've got him, you've got a year to convince him otherwise, and he's still going to be turning down an ass-ton of cash to go sign with someone else. Afflalo and Harrington are good players you're getting for a decent number (~$7 mil for the next three years), but they're not going to turn your team around. Hell, you want to bottom out and get Top 5 picks for the next couple years.

I see LeBron as the guy who chose his career over you, but gave you the news in a public setting, thus making the news especially hard.

Dwight's act reminds me of a guy who cheats on his wife, then hits his wife when she finds out about it, then buys her a nice big ring in order to try to get her to shut up, but after the second or third ring he just said "f*ck it, I'm leaving, but until the divorce is final you can damn well be sure that I'm going to be living under my own roof."

Exactly. The Lakers are trying one last year to get a title shot. Kobe's good, but in two weeks he'll be 34 years old, which is considerable seeing he played his first pro game at the age of 18. Nash is at the end of his career, and they probably won't get another shot like this. OKC is the new sheriff in town and the whole Western Conference knows it. The Lakers are hoping Howard's that piece they need to get one last ring. Kobe has five, and you know that Jordan having one more ring is killing him. If he gets six, that ties him with Jordan and gets him one more than Magic Johnson. You won't see Kobe at any of the Olympic events for the next 20 minutes because he's trying to hide his erection right now.

I like the analogy game. Yours are good.

As for this, is this offseason for the Lakers a gift due to the Paul trade veto? I mean, HOLY CRAP

Did Lebron go back and forth and then decide he was going to stay then whine about how they "blackmailed" him by saying they'd trade him somewhere he didnt preapprove for 3 months before he could become a free agent? Then throw a tantrum and to get the front office fired? Then demand to be traded again instead of honoring the agreement he made less than 6 months ago?

Dwight has made LeBron look like a messiah in comparison.

This could get Kupchak to the Hall of Fame if the Lakers can win titles with Howard. Getting him for only Bynum and a protected 1st rounder is terrific work by him.

A bit on Bynum - He did great work for that team and I'm going to miss the guy. He got blasted way too much by the media last year for being "immature" because he took a bad three (Kobe takes 100 of those a year), and missing a couple of huddles and meetings. I guess he was also immature when he was playing on one knee in the playoffs for them in their second title run with Gasol. And he was also immature ignoring Kobe's "ship his ass out" rant at the age of 19 and instead went to work to develop into an all-star center at the age of 24. He's going to have a huge impact in Philly.

On Orlando's side, I guess this is slightly better than the Brooklyn trade. Brook Lopez is decent but paying him max money is ridiculous. This is a complete rebuild anyway, so build with cheaper players with good upsides. They were never going to get a good return with the way Howard screwed the situation up.

I guess this thread is about Igulodala though. He's been in trade rumors seemingly every year of his career. Glad it's finally over.

Why do so many teams keep insisting on giving their best players to the Lakers for nothing? How does this keep happening?

I hate the Nuggets part of this. We lose Afflalo who is one of the best defenders at the 2 and a decent scorer and a good shooter off the bench in Harrington for Iguodala who is one of the best defenders at the 2 and rebounds a better than Afflalo but doesn't score as much. So as far as I can tell we got Afflalos equal and lost Harrington who scored 14 points a game. I havent seen the salary numbers so it could have just been a salary dump opportunity. Harrington was hurt a lot last year but he seemed to power thru it and still played well so I dont think it was an injury thing.

Plus we pretty much gift wrapped a championship for the Lakers who have knocked us out of the playoffs the last couple years. It's like giving the bully that kicks your ass and takes your lunch money everyday a set of brass knuckles for christmas. I don't get this at all from the Nuggets perspective.

Why Would I Read the Article: Why do so many teams keep insisting on giving their best players to the Lakers for nothing? How does this keep happening?

I think ot has to do with most porn stars living in LA. They're like "Seriously pick your 5 favorite pornstars and we'll send them to give you the worlds best blowjobs for a week straight." There really isn't any other plausible explanation.

Pretty much. 30 yr old GM screwed the Magic hard.

They also get some draft picks that are unlikely to be lottery, a sub par center, and Moe Harkless. This grand scheme by rob hennigan will make the Magic bad for years.

Frustrating as a fan because magic could have traded before the draft with LA, got Bynum in return and the picks LA surrendered for Nash, then held onto Ryan Anderson and the Magic are still a pretty good team. Instead they decided to go with awful.

So now here's the Olrando lineup:

PG - Jameer Nelson and Chris Duhon (lol)
SG - Afflalo and Redick
SF - Hedo and Harless, assuming he makes the team?
PF - Big Baby and Harrington
C - Gustavo Ayon and that Vucevic dude they got from the Sixers?

Looks grim. Harrington and Afflalo can play but dang.

It's rare to see a multi-team trade where one team is royally screwed and the other three flat-out clean up, but that happened here.

Obviously, the Lakers are the big story here, but the other two teams did really nicely, too. Philly gets one of the top centers in the game and Denver gets Iggy for Afflalo AND dumps Al Harrington in the process.

And think about how much the coach (name escaping me right now) praised Afflalo going into the season.

Well now I have to actively root against the Lakers.

It's not terrific work, that deals been there for like a year and a half. The only thing that kept it from happening sooner is that Orlando seemed to think that getting a bunch of mid-level talent and picks was somehow preferable to renting Bynum for a year and rolling the dice on being able to resign him, and they needed to find other teams willing to help make the shell game happen.

I can't believe they didn't dump Duhon. That should have been the number one priority. He may just be the worst PG in the league, and he's making close to 5 mill with 2 years left.

The only reason this angers me is because it is going to distract all of sports talk radio from amusingly pointless predictions about the NFL season from the first set of preseason football games, to Chris Brousard polluting the airwaves with his mindless drivel that anyone with a Twitter account could present.

Needless to say, I won't be tuning into ESPN Radio at all tomorrow.

///I think ESPN got butthurt they got outbid on the NHL rights contract, and pushed the NBA extra hard this year/post-season

I see Duhon out all the time. Nice guy, but he's one of worst in the league. I bet he's at his favorite bar smiling and laughing with all the regulars. How he survived this purge is beyond me. He is the Wedge Antilles of the NBA.

So I was at a bar and saw the trade had finished, and assumed the Magic cleaned up. I get home, read the ESPN article, and ruin my monitor with the spit take I pulled. The traded Howard for Afflalo, Harrington, some other douche and a 1st round pick from the farking LAKERS, SIXERS, and NUGGETS? Three teams that are basically GUARANTEED TO GIVE THEM LATE 1st ROUNDERS???

I hope the Magic get contracted and every person involved in this deal is forced to get JJ Redick's face tattooed on their forehead.
