I was expecting an article about James Holmes' bandolier.

I'm trying to picture the Hulk saying "only $5.99" and it's impossible

I would be good with "Buy Belt!" or "Hulk wear!"
I'd be ok with "You buy!" or "Belt cheap!"

But "only $5.99"? The Hulk would never say that.

"This is what the Joker shows his men".

And the whole "Boner" meme descends into a whole new creepy level.

Isn't that more of a futility belt?

The Joker's Utility Belt is one of the best Batman stories of all time. I dunno why the article is hating on it.

Always thought it was funny how everything always had their heads on it. Even their weird vehicles. Superheros were nothing if not brand aware.

The 1952 story was reprinted into one of the 80-page Giants which I read in real time like 1965. Loved that story. Adults can hate on it all they want, but for me at 9 at the time, it was great reading.

Maybe the comic is from the Professor Hulk decade?

//OK, I officially know too much about comic books. Well, about superhero comics, at least, I think I'm OK with being familiar with Transmetropolitan or, say, Hellblazer.

The TV series adapted that idea.

Transmetropolitan is great. Hellblazer was great, but 1: New 52 utterly farked it up and 2: Mike Carey's run arguably farked it up first. Ennis and Moore's work with John Constantine, though? Brilliant.

I would argue that Milligan's Hellblazer is the best that book has been in years. JL Dark is awful, but that's not the same Constantine. I agree with your opinions on Carey, Ennis, and Moore.

I loved Transmetropolitan when I first read it, but that was before I read any Hunter Thompson. Now it kind of feels like fan fiction. Maybe I need to try it again.

The New 52 Constantine of "Justice League Dark" and the Constantine of "Hellblazer" are in different continuities, unless I missed something.

When I saw this article, I vaguely remembered back in the day, they'd record old comics and sell them. No idea if this was done legally.
I had a 45 recording of ^this^ particular comic when I was 5. It was like a poorly acted radio drama. The actors would actually say the word "cough".
Had another where Spider Man fought Draco the Dragon.
"You're aim's improved, but not your breath! You should try Scope, the minty mouthwash for droopy dragons!"
Oh, Spider Man, you smartass.

Wish I still had those.

Well lookee here. Got nostalgic enough to track it down.
Thread seems to have died, but I'll just leave this here for future generations.

That was "Invasion of the Dragon Men" from Power Records. Check out Power Records Plaza. Used to have the Spider-Man and Batman ones at a kid. Now I listen to them on my iPod at work.
