Broncos 24 Bears 0. Manning played one series.

Geez, that was a one on one race and Bolt even slowed up to silence everyone.

2012-08-09 11:03:26 PM
man, didn't even looked like he was trying hard

2012-08-09 11:03:27 PM
Yes, yes, Usain Bolt. Whatevs.

2012-08-09 11:03:37 PM
BTW the time Bolt ran, 19.32, is the same time Michael Johnson ran in 1996 when he shredded his own world record in the 200 meters, and ran like hell the whole way.

2012-08-09 11:03:40 PM
Good for them!

2012-08-09 11:03:46 PM
I really want to know what he'd be capable of if he A) gets off to a great start, *and* B) just ran flat out the whole race.

Wow....

Joe_diGriz: B) just ran flat out the whole race.

Well in at the world championship in 09 he ran 19.19 in the 200 going flat out the whole way. I want to see him run the 400.

Yes. Yes. But NBC is saving the medal awarding goodness for later.

I know I'm preaching to the choir here, but "grumble". F*ck this stupid sh*t. They've completely botched this year.

They're about to make a profit on a $1.2 Billion investment.

You admittedly hate it, and yet, on day 14 you're still watching. Like a backsliding crack addict you come back.

Botched it like a fox I guess.

We don't exactly have options, aside from ignoring the Olympics altogether.

Dude. You are on the internet. Have you heard people talk about Expat Shield or bbc.co.uk? There are options within these very United States believe it or not.

I'm fully aware of streaming. I just don't agree with the need to to watch low res events on my machine instead of in HD on my cable provider.

Then don't be disingenuous and say you don't have options. You do. You just prefer to whine and biatch instead of exercising those options.

In other words, you are basically a troll.

Heck, I'd like to see him to the decathalon just to see if he'd be bad at anything in T&F

Joe_diGriz: I really want to know what he'd be capable of if he A) gets off to a great start, *and* B) just ran flat out the whole race.

Yeah, he often seems to pull up at the end. On this one he looked to his left, seemed like he knew he would win, and it slowed him. If he just ran his race against the clock, instead of being satisfied with being in first, he'd shave another quarter-second off his time.

heh if he took up the long jump I'm sure he could just annihilate the world record.

With all that extra energy, I'm surprised he isn't in the 4X400 (unless he is in the finals group). My guess for not running the 400 is it would tire him in the 100 and 200

What? Run a race he might stand a chance of losing? Not for Usain Bolt!

2012-08-09 11:09:51 PM
BTW if Bolt ran the 400, which he actually used to run, I'm sure he could destroy the current world record for 43.18 and get under 43.00.

WhyteRaven74: heh if he took up the long jump I'm sure he could just annihilate the world record.

Yea. Given his speed, long stride, and ability to just generate power when he needs it, I'm not sure he wouldn't jump past the sand pit.

The 400 would be like the 100 and 200, just more so.

I don't see him being very good at the pole vault, and similarly the high jump. He's bulked up in the upper body and that looks like he'd be a bit off balance for those.

Well I'm not sure he could go that far, but I wouldn't be the least surprised to see him go right past 30'.

Also as for the comments about his personality, best way to put it is that Bolt is the anti-Carl Lewis.

Oh, and as long as am spoiling. American Mitchell ran the 4x400m relay with broken leg

"I got out pretty slow, but I picked it up and when I got to the 100-metre mark it felt weird. As soon as I took the first step past the 200-metrr mark, I felt it break. I heard it. I even put out a little war cry, but the crowd was so loud you couldn't hear it," Mitchell said.

"I knew if I finished strong we could still get it (the baton) around. I saw Josh Mance motioning me in for me to hand it off to him, which lifted me. I didn't want to let those three guys down, or the team down, so I just ran on it. It hurt so bad."

I didn't see them air yet, but I've seen all related spoilers to it anyhow. I'm surprised with all the stories involved in the heats that it hasn't aired yet.

Selector: Bolt's 200m time just now comes out to a little over 23 miles an hour. Jesus.

Consider this, his world record in the 100 is 9.58, twice that is 19.16, and he's run 19.19 in the 200. When he first broke the 200m world record it was actually less than double his time in the 100.

rka: Probably the next time we see him push it will be when he starts coming in 2nd or 3rd as father time catches up with him.

Next year's world championship. I think he just wanted to get the double in the Olympics over with and wasn't going to worry about the actual times. Next year, he may well just floor it again.

No, he wasn't. You can't extrapolate like that in track events...doesn't work that way. Still pretty amazing though.

rka: Then why are people saying they want to know what he'd be capable of?

For me personally, it's because I don't really pay enough attention to track and field outside of the Olympics and a few events here and there. So I'm not really aware of what Bolt has done elsewhere for the most part, outside of setting ridiculous records.

tudorgurl: a 3 minute 40 sec mile based on his time

for a frame of reference, the world record in the mile is 3:43.13. And was set 13 years ago. I dare say it's definitely in danger of being broken at this point given what happened in the 800.

TheManofPA: I didn't see them air yet, but I've seen all related spoilers to it anyhow. I'm surprised with all the stories involved in the heats that it hasn't aired yet.

Ed 'Too Tall' Jones: Selector: It's interesting to me that more unusually tall people like bolt don't compete in (running) track events. It would seem that they'd be really good at it, considering stride length and all, especially for sprinters.

In this country, a guy that big and fast would have a football in his hands by the time he hit middle school. Not as much glory in track as in other countries.

not really, stop fooling yourself... a lot of people with long legs while have longer strides are slower in rotation BUT Bolt is one of those very rare human being that has both the stride and quick physiology of a sprinter which is why he is what he is. This is why long distance folks are usually tall lanky types with long legs but sprinters are shorter muscular type. Shorter legs also builds up power and speed much faster.. like 1st gear compared to say 5th gear in automobile speak. Bolt being the genetic freak has both!

it's just kinematics.

The reason being that that 1:40 he ran was him winding it out. Going for broke. Using all his gas. If he had to run another 800m, it probably would have taken him three minutes or more.
