Sounds that way:

The scene was from stock footage bought from a Cincinnati video company, Faux said. He did not know the name of the company but said he was told by the Obama campaign that company officials said they did explain to Krause's manager that they were filming stock footage that could be purchased and used for any reason.

But since Fox is on the job, the truth will soon cease to matter.

The Obama campaign is in the right legally, but it doesn't really matter in this case. If she wants them to stop using the footage (or at least the part that identifies her business) - it's dickish to keep using it.

The owner of the store, Debra Krause-McDonnell, said that she did not give permission for her business to be shown and that some customers have told her they'll no longer shop there.

Not that the article says this business is struggling, but I wouldn't be suprised if it was - given that the owner has no idea what the contracts she signs actually mean.

'Some' customers hardly counts as struggling, and who's to say she didn't pick up a few Obama supporters in the deal. I still stand by my original point however: you can't be that good of a businessman if you'll sign any damn thing put in front of you without reading it first.

Perhaps, but it still makes for bad optics, much like all those musicians who biatch about Republicans using their songs. Honestly, Obama's team should probably just redo the ad with a different store. There have to be plenty of store owners who'd be happy to be in an Obama ad, for the free publicity alone.

So a small business owner losing business because a politician is using her store in a commercial is no big deal? Good thing Ms. Krause didn't build that business herself.

And so this business owner demanded that the Romney camp either pull the ad or blur her deli's name from the frames that it's in. The campaign, she says, ignored her pleas.

The scene was from stock footage bought from a Cincinnati video company, Faux said.

Yes, way to support businesses.

Let's jeapordize a video business because an owner or authorized agent of another business entered into a legally binding model release without any reservation on moral rights and now doesn't like it! Let's put a video company out of business because it makes Obama look bad if you ignore the fact that the store is stupid and completely at fault! And that totally doesn't make us look stupid to suggest that or anything! Yay, contracts are just paper!

According to the article: A store manager knew about the filming, Krause-McDonnell said, but was told it was for a survey on riot doors, those metal garage-type doors that pull down and lock to protect storefronts. That might be true, said Caleb Faux, director of the Hamilton County Democratic Party, who researched the ad confusion and spoke with Obama campaign officials in Columbus.

So the headline is misleading, submitter, the article doesn't say how the Obama campaign responded.

According to the article: "I've been put into a position I didn't ask for," she said Wednesday after the Hamilton County Republican Party sent out an email about the ad that accused Democrats of not responding to the owner's concerns. "I'm a little angry."

Obama buys it for add.

She calls obama folks who say they need to look into it and will get back to her.
She gets pissier that whatever random staffer couldnt immediately pull the add and calls the gop asking to put out a press release.

Then I watched the ad, and had a lot of trouble even figuring out which of the short clips was of her store, whilst Obama said relatively constructive words about how Americans build their businesses.

I mean, I get that they're naturally going to identify more with the party that, often like them, sees nothing but the bottom line, but Jesus Christ do I really have to see this on my way to Belen every week?

I've been out of work for awhile which means that home improvement projects have been the saving grace of my sanity.

I'm stunned at the number of pickup trucks in the Home Depot parking lot emblazoned with derp-inducing logos, catch phrases and pictures. What's even more stunning is when you realize that they're self-made....someone went to a local print place and specifically doled out money to have it made specifically for their vehicle.

Now I'm a lifelong Democrat, so I may be skewed on this a bit. But if I hire a contractor and the vehicle he shows up in to give an estimate is at derp-overload, I'm going to have trouble trusting the person. It's just wildly unprofessional, and it goes for both sides of the coin. There's just something unprofessional about seeing a vehicle swathed in political slogans show up at your door to give you an estimate on dry-walling the downstairs.

She's boned and the Obama people don't have to do a damned thing. Nor would Romney's folks if they used it. Another non-issue stoked up by Fox and Newsbusters, partners in idiocy.

So a small business owner losing business because a politician is using her store in a commercial is no big deal? Good thing Ms. Krause didn't build that business herself.

I sorta think it would be funny if Obama's team decided not to use it, demanded the money back from the stock footage company and stock footage company sues small business lady out of business for breech of contract.

According to the owner in an interview I saw, she was told the company was doing some sort of documentary or review of security doors and they wanted to film hers, which they did. The Obama campaign may be legally within its rights, but dragging her business against its will into a political fight and pissing off customers who think she's chosen sides just makes Obama look like a giant asshole. If he was smart and/or had any class he'd tell them to change the ad. The Republicans are going to use this against him until he does.

He patched the hole in the leaking boat. He repaired the economy. He didn't restore/recover it. Repair doesn't imply he brought it back to its former glory.

Universal healthcare means that everyone has access (insurance). Maybe you don't like the way he did it and maybe there are lots of problems with the way he did it but he dealt with the people who had no coverage before.

If you're reduced to selling your company's image for stock footage, your company is struggling, though, so I'm going with Obama campaign wins here, legally and factually correct > slightly impolite.

\

So they should go out of business!

You're completely correct, if you have to sell stock footage to help your business, you should welcome less business once your bad decision manifests itself in ways you couldn't have imagined. After all, you have to support Obama, right?

I'll just go ahead and guess you've never run a struggling business, or any small business at all.

The Obama campaign doesn't gain anything by giving this woman grief she doesn't want, even if they are "technically" correct in using the footage. She wants to remain apolitical, but they've made her a flashpoint.

A couple of months ago I was in the back of an ambulance and the way to the hospital. The paramedic was asking me questions to gage if I was all mentally there or not. One of the questions was "Who's the president?" After I answered Obama, he added "Hopefully not for much longer, right?" Seriously, campaigning to someone on a stretcher on the way to the hospital? I realize it was the suburbs and in Georgia but still it's crazy to assume that everyone has your political views and its appropriate to bring them up. It's one thing when it's the cable guy going on about his GED in law but I would expect better out of a paramedic especially one who claimed to have been on the job for over twenty years.

With all the Chick-Fil-A attention whoring going on right now, I can respect a business that prefers to remain neutral. Either that or they're just going to make a new ad, just like they've been doing every week for the past six months.

BTW, lest we forget, he's the PRESIDENT. He's doing all sorts of stuff, and one of those things is very rarely signing off on every single ad that his campaign's communications department makes. He just assumes, as do all major candidates, that the campaign isn't doing anything offensive. This ad will simply disappear as have about a hundred Obama ads this year alone.

I heard 0bama personally forced her at gunpoint to give him permission to shoot the footage, and then lied about what it was being used for. He then threatened to off her family if she snitched. Luckily her family has Obamacare if someone gets hurt though. This is just typical for 0bama to do this, Chicago politics as usual.

This, for me anyway, is more of a problem I typically have with friends of friends. I try to exercise restraint with my responses unless cues from our common friend indicate that it's okay to really smack them.

Mrtraveler01: Lsherm: Mrtraveler01: Lsherm: The Obama campaign doesn't gain anything by giving this woman grief she doesn't want, even if they are "technically" correct in using the footage. She wants to remain apolitical, but they've made her a flashpoint.

Oh give me a farking break. She allowed it to be filmed for stock footage. Which means that it could be used for things she doesn't support.

That's how stock footage works farktard, anyone can use it, even people you don't like!

So excuse me if I don't give a flying fark that this woman feels so persecuted for being used for stock footage and being used in political campaigns she doesn't like.

Well, a literate Mrtraveler01 might have noticed my earlier post. But not YOU - YOU are so important you can't read, and you call people who can retarded. How do you feel about yourself?

No, I read your Boobies see:

Lsherm: The Obama campaign is in the right legally, but it doesn't really matter in this case. If she wants them to stop using the footage (or at least the part that identifies her business) - it's dickish to keep using it.

And like I said before, IT'S FARKING STOCK FOOTAGE! She has no control over how it would be used. Why should Obama listen to her?

If she didn't want it to be used in campaign ads for candidates she doesn't like, then she shouldn't have offered to use her business to be filmed for stock footage.

So excuse me for not giving a shiat about how this woman feels about how stock footage featuring her business is being used.

Yeah, keep running with that.

Usually the folks who get the most angry will give you variations of:
- 'zer0 sat for twenty years in THAT church!' (regarding Obama)
- 'we're electing a president, not a pastor' (regarding Romney)

- Jeremiah Wright is anti-American!
- I don't know anything about what they teach, and don't care.

- Obama is a muslim! who was taught by that man for 20 years!
- Romney just has funny beliefs but he's still a christian.

- Obama is the anti-christ!
- Romney is a family man who's been married to the same woman for many years and raised a decent family.

- what he believes matters most
- how he governs matters most

- god told me to vote against him
- we can hold his feet to the fire

changing goal posts. if any of your friends were drinking the 'Dubya is a christian, this is a christian country, i won't vote for anyone who isn't christian' koolaid in prior years, but suddenly religion no longer matters to them... yeah.

/I have no idea what's going on with black, latin, asian and indian who move goal posts.

My favorite thing with the people screaming about "black liberation theology" is that they're all focused on the "black" bit while being too ignorant and stupid to know that liberation theology is little more than Christian Marxism. For all of the times that Fox, right wing talk radio, WND and all the rest have talked about Jeremiah Wright and black liberation theology, it's clear that no one, and I do mean no one, on the right has even the slightest clue what liberation theology is and none of them have bothered to find out. If there was one angle where they could have possibly waged a legitimate attack against Obama and OMGSOCIALISM!, it would be over the fact that he spent 20 years listening to a pastor who has Marxist theology, but they're so busy being racist that even after four years they still miss that completely.

Am I the only one that is kind of tired of candidates white knighting small business? I mean, it's great if someone starts a business but I notice that small businesses around here are the ones paying minimum wage, using illegal aliens, not providing health care, and often times providing higher prices and worse service than their bigger competitors. Not to mention many chisel on sales taxes. Many or most small businesses are upstanding, ethical members of the community but there are just as many losers among that bunch as any other. Maybe more.

Ultimately, though, I think a lot of the "small business" focus, especially by Republicans, is to get Americans to go along with tax cuts and deregulation that primarily benefits large business.

Yeah, she's so upset about the ad, and she'd be just as angry if it was a Romney ad...but she's not asking the GOP to leave her out of it.

"I've been put into a position I didn't ask for," she said Wednesday after the Hamilton County Republican Party sent out an email about the ad that accused Democrats of not responding to the owner's concerns. "I'm a little angry."

She'd be just as angry, she said, if it were an ad for Mitt Romney.

And she goes on Fox News to complain, but still doesn't ask the Republicans to stop using her story for the campaign.

Alex Triantafilou, the local Republican chairman, said Krause-McDonnell contacted him initially for legal help. He told her he led the local Republican Party and could help her send out the press release via email. He did that Wednesday, but said Thursday he hadn't talked to her since.

And when did she contact the Obama campaign to complain?

Faux said he first spoke with Krause-McDonnell on a Friday night and called the campaign, which got back to him by Sunday. They couldn't do anything about the ad over the weekend, he said, but told him it would be ending anyway Monday.

Krause-McDonnell, 52, said she still saw the ad after Faux told her the campaign said it would be off the air. It is no longer airing but can be seen on YouTube.

FTFA: A small business owner in a crucial swing state has found herself losing business from loyal customers due to her ad being featured in a Mitt Romney campaign ad. It seems her customers believe she is a Romney backer, but in fact she prefers to keep politics out of her business. And so this business owner demanded that the Romney camp either pull the ad or blur her deli's name from the frames that it's in. The campaign, she says, ignored her pleas. -NewsBusters, August 09, 2012

Awesome.

Since the Republicans continue to quote Democrats out-of-context, using single sentences or even sentence fragments at a time, I think it'd be nice to take this entire paragraph and re-post it, with the citation, as many times as possible around the web. Nope, but I do think it's time we stop hoisting them as paragons of American ingenuity simply because they no longer draw a paycheck. For every smart small business owner, there's untold numbers of idiots who inherited or mortgaged a few bucks and just assumed that the minute they hung out a sign, the people would come. Once successful then yes, they can brag to me all they want about being the backbone of society.

jjorsett: but dragging her business against its will into a political fight and pissing off customers who think she's chosen sides just makes Obama look like a giant asshole. I

Almost as big of an asshole as people who think that using commercial stock footage is "dragging her business against her will into a political fight". I guess the thing I personally don't understand is the willful stupidity of people who want to see controversy where none exists. If she didn't want her store used in videos, there was a simple way to avoid it. But once you sell the rights to something, you give up all ability to complain about what it's used for. But then, without people like you, my job as Agent Provocateur of meaningless arguments would be a lot more difficult, so thank you.

Sounds that way:

He did not know the name of the company but said he was told by the Obama campaign that company officials said they did explain to Krause's manager that they were filming stock footage that could be purchased and used for any reason.

But since Fox is on the job, the truth will soon cease to matter.

I find this part of Conservative politics to be truly hilarious. They love to drum up outrage on the most ridiculous things. That in and of itself is annoying. But then in their article, to add credibility, they cite sources, provide links and even quotes to back their story. Except if you actually read the source, click the link or parse the quote you realize it directly contradicts what they are saying.

I bet if I search through all of Romney's ads there has got to be some stock footage of a business somewhere in one of them. No one has yet to complain because no liberal would tell a business that they have lost their business because it was in a Romney ad. We just don't care that much.

With dijon mustard

Fixed.

Following President Obama's May 5 visit to Ray's Hell Burger in Arlington, Virginia, Sean Hannity, Laura Ingraham, and Rush Limbaugh Show guest host Mark Steyn criticized Obama as an elitist because he ordered a burger with "spicy mustard" or "Dijon mustard." Hannity claimed that Obama ordered a "fancy burger" with a "very special condiment," while Steyn asserted Obama is trying "to enlighten us" through his order. Ingraham asked of Obama: "What kind of man orders a cheeseburger without ketchup but Dijon mustard? ... The guy orders a cheeseburger without ketchup? What is that?" In their discussions of Obama's burger order, Hannity, Ingraham, and Steyn all referenced a Grey Poupon commercial featuring actors portraying wealthy British men expressing desire for the mustard.

During the May 6 edition of his Fox News program, Hannity said: "[A]s you all know, President Obama is a real man of the people. And yesterday he dropped by a popular Virginia restaurant to grab a burger with his pal [Vice President] Joe [Biden]. Now, the Gateway Pundit blog pointed out that plain old ketchup, well, it didn't quite cut it for the president. Now take a look at him ordering his burger with a very special condiment. ... Dijon mustard? I think the president watched just a little bit too much television as a kid." Hannity then played a portion of a Grey Poupon commercial and commented, "I hope you enjoyed that fancy burger, Mr. President." In the May 5 post Hannity referenced, the Gateway Pundit wrote of Obama and Biden: "They're just two ordinary metrosexual guys going out for a burger ... Obama and Biden, two ordinary guys, go out for a sandwich and Obama asks for Dijon mustard at Joe's Hell Burger." The blog added: "I hear it's delish with arugula lettuce. Yum-Yum."

During the May 6 edition of her radio show, Ingraham said of Obama: "I don't even like the way the man orders a hamburger. ... What kind of man orders a cheeseburger without ketchup but Dijon mustard?" She later added of Obama: "See, he was trying to do this whole thing with Biden -- 'We're like the regular people, we're like every other guy, you know, with our -- on our lunch break, we're going to go grab a burger, two guys, two bros.' " Like Hannity, Ingraham played a clip from a Grey Poupon commercial in which an actor asked, "Pardon me, would you have any Grey Poupon?" Ingraham then remarked: "That would have been more appropriate." Ingraham's remarks were highlighted by The Fox Nation on May 7:

On the May 7 edition of The Rush Limbaugh Show, Steyn said of Obama's condiment selection: "He's amazing, Obama. This coverage -- he's a regular guy. He eats a hamburger with Dijon mustard -- Dijon mustard. John Kerry couldn't get away with that stuff, but he makes it seem like just like a regular thing to do. Now there's -- I see that some of the left-wing commentators are saying, 'Why are people making a fuss about the Dijon mustard?' but that's just an example of the way Obama is able to enlighten us." Later in the program, Steyn stated: "I deeply resent Barack Obama crashing in as the Grey Poupon spokesperson, because that has been the lifesaver for non-American voiceover artists in this country for years -- getting the gig doing the Grey Poupon voiceover." He added: "f you can't outsource Grey Poupon to foreigners, what can you outsource? And instead now he's apparently the big Grey Poupon spokesperson, putting it all -- putting it all over his hamburger. Barack Obama -- that was -- what was that? That was yesterday, Barack Obama had a hamburger. I don't know what he may do today to prove -- to pass for human."

From the May 6 edition of Fox News' Hannity:

HANNITY: And finally tonight, as you all know, President Obama is a real man of the people. And yesterday he dropped by a popular Virginia restaurant to grab a burger with his pal Joe. Now, the Gateway Pundit blog pointed out that plain old ketchup, well, it didn't quite cut it for the president. Now take a look at him ordering his burger with a very special condiment.

OBAMA [video clip]: All right. I'm going to have a -- just your basic cheddar cheeseburger, medium well. I just want mustard, no ketchup. If you've got like a spicy mustard or something like that, or a Dijon mustard, something like that.

HANNITY: All right, Dijon mustard? I think the president watched just a little bit too much television as a kid:

[begin video clip]

IAN RICHARDSON (actor): Pardon me, would you have any Grey Poupon?

PAUL EDDINGTON (actor): You mean the mustard?

RICHARDSON: Yes, would you have any?

EDDINGTON: Would I, or do I?

RICHARDSON: Both, actually.

[end video clip]

HANNITY: All right, I hope you enjoyed that fancy burger, Mr. President.

From the May 6 edition of Talk Radio Network's The Laura Ingraham Show:

INGRAHAM: I don't even like the way the man orders a hamburger. You're listening to The Laura Ingraham Show. What kind of man orders a cheeseburger without ketchup but Dijon mustard? See, he was trying to do this whole thing with Biden -- "We're like the regular people, we're like every other guy, you know, with our -- on our lunch break, we're going to go grab a burger, two guys, two bros." No --

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: And a bottled water, what?

INGRAHAM: Well, we're gonna -- we're two bros hanging out together all right, man? How was your day? I love you, man. I love you. The guy orders a cheeseburger without ketchup? What is that?

While it was 100% legal to use the footage, it would make them look extra awesome if they removed it anyway.

That being said, the first paragraph or two of the article is dripping with such concentrated douche juice that I can barely stand it. Fark you and your whiny persecution complex.

The stimulus stopped the hemorrhagic loss of jobs. Financial reforms and also freeing up cash in the markets. Didn't restore the economy but initiated the recovery and provided a stable environment for continued recovery.

re·pair 1 (r-pâr)
v. re·paired, re·pair·ing, re·pairs
v.tr.
1. To restore to sound condition after damage or injury; fix: repaired the broken watch.
2. To set right; remedy: repair an oversight.
3. To renew or revitalize.
4. To make up for or compensate for (a loss or wrong, for example).

I think you are confusing the term restore with repair. First you repair and then you restore. The site provides references but whatever.

You want to get technical, the economy was in recession. The economy is no longer in a recession it is in a period of growth (once again). You want to talk about a healthy economy, you are going the have to go back to the Clinton days for that.

I can provide you a job creation chart, stock market chart or a GDP chart showing exactly how the economy turned around under Obama but I doubt that would convince you.

Clearly the stock market has rebounded. But unemployment rates just set a record for most consecutive months over 8%.

I am not trying to sound dickish, but even liberal leaning economists/business leaders say that the economy is not in good shape. As mentioned, many are predicting another recession.

I am not claiming this is Obama's fault. But I am quite sure that few people think the economy is "repaired".

Who would have thought, when a financial crisis coupled with tax cuts pushed by Republicans, and a depressed European economy make a recession last longer than first expected?

And the fact that you can't see the irony in "Obama didn't fix it!" while Republicans set the record for number of bills filibustered shows how partisan you tools are.
