Okay. You folks will assure me I'm losing it.

When I was a kid in the 60s, we had a phonograph player and one of my parents bought an album of kids songs. One of our favorites was, "The poor kudu."

The only lyrics I remember are,

The poor kudu, the poor kudu
funniest animal at the zoo.

Later in the song was

What would a kudu do? What would a kudu do?

Free beer and kudu burgers to whomever can find this nugget from my distant past.

They have a competition where you put kudu droppings in your mouth and see how far you can spit them out. I'm surprised that there are any competitors.

I made my 10 year old niece watch that for three first time yesterday. It was really funny watching the look of utter confusion on her face.

A pinotage would be appropriate, or a good South African shiraz.

Ate kudu on my honeymoon in SA.

That really ought to be a euphemism for something awfully filthy......

They are delicious. I stayed at a lodge in South Africa, and they had Kudu burger.
It's nice and lean.

I ran out of time looking up the menu, but here are some glowing reviews.

They are, mostly. We had some when visiting my sister in South Africa. In the resturaunts, they were really good. Some of the random shops in the mall had all sorts of DLT (Deer Like Things) jerky and I had to try them all. Kudu jerky...eh, okay.

2012-08-10 12:06:13 PM
Not Kudu jerky... Kudu biltong... BILTONG. Kudu is supposedly the connoisseur's choice of biltong, but quite frankly, I have always preferred Springbok biltong.

PS - A large male Kudu can weigh as much as 1000 lbs - that is a LOT of biltong!!

I'm sure that tastes great. Nothing better than venison that's been run for miles on the table. :/

Something tells me securing the most tasty venison steak possible isn't a priority for the gentleman or the others he is hunting for.
