Man what is up with my state? They keep coming out with stuff like this, and about the guy accidentally calling 911 for a drug deal, makes me wonder why we have a lot of idiots here...

From TFA:

"But with the amount of congestion Thursday, the squirrelly geometry of the road and the size of equipment, they couldn't turn around to go back and fix the mistake."

Ambrosini said a foreman vehicle usually travels in front of or behind the painting vehicle to clean up or move any obstructions.
...
The paint crew saw the dead critter, he said. But it was too late to stop the double yellow lines from running up the back of the raccoon.
...
He said that the problem occurs "pretty frequently."
...
"Painting the yellow lines over the existing lines is not easily done."

I don't know whether to laugh or to do something else.

It was the road: "the squirrelly geometry of the road".

Why do people post pictures of themselves and their children when commenting on news articles?

What caught the biker's attention was a dead raccoon in the middle of Franklin Street. Not that unusual - except that this racoon raccoon had been painted over by a road crew.

Sorry, pet pave.

I swear I don't know why but this photo and the raccoon pic in the original link is making me laugh. I am hysterical over here! Maybe I'm kind of twisted.

FTFA: An unpainted spot is all that remains of where the unfortunate animal met its demise. Ambrosini said that he is unsure when a crew will repair the less-than-perfect paint job.

Seriously, what's the holdup? It would take about two minutes with a paintbrush and half a can of the appropriate color to touch that up.

The stuff on the road generally isn't actually paint these days, it's a thermoplastic with reflective components, and it has to be applied at high temperatures and pressures. You can't just brush it on.

I know right? If only they had some kind of machine, like one that is either pulled behind a truck or even self-propelled by an engine, one that could mechanically spray the paint in a vertical motion onto the roadway, it might even take LESS time than expected!
