The censors let the "Analrapist" joke through, and there's no way they could have missed that. My theory is that they'll let a joke through if it's too smart to be understood by the type who would complain.

Strategeryz0r: That was kind of the point. There isn't a single character on the show that's likeable(something they pointed out in the last season continuously). It really was half an hour of primetime depravity. The funny thing is, that's the kind of comedy that's selling these days. The show was kind of ahead of it's time really, hence why Netflix picked it up. They realized how many people were starting to take notice of it, and watching it repeatedly over their streaming service.

I can't count the number of friends who "don't own tv's" that fell in love with the show after I loaned them season 1. A big problem with TV is so much of it is so bad that a lot of people ignore it entirely so gems get cancelled even when lots of people would love them if they saw them.

Because most of the American television viewing audience are retards and can't follow jokes that take longer than 5 seconds to set up. Not saying you're one of those retards...you just MAY be.

I don't see anything in any of those quotes that would cause a standards and practices department to pull the plug. I mean, yeah a lot of those jokes are cleverly crafted, but unless there's an actual dirty word or a clear and direct reference to something unfit for the delicate US viewer's sensibilities you can get away with quite a bit... especially if you happen to be on a network that likes to think it's on the "edgy" side of content.

As long as you can hide your content in unspoken or interrupted dialogue, wrap it in double entendre or just beat around the... ummm... shrub, there's really not much to worry about from a fine standpoint.

Honestly, AD is a smarter show and funnier for it. Archer is awesome, don't get me wrong, but it's not as good.

It was a toss-up between WoWP, iCarly, and Hannah Montana. Hell, I think 90% of the 'kids shows' these days have gotten more (and better) crap under the radar than Arrested Development.

My wife, who is not a native english speaker, watched some of them with me and while she laughed here and there she missed a lot. The best part really is picking up all the tiny subtle plays on words.

When I saw the copier bit mentioned in the article, I couldn't believe they got away with it. Also liked the constant "no, I've taught YOU a lesson" one upsmanship. Also, it was amusing watching this after watching Archer, as Lucille and the secretary (forget her name) are basically the same character.

Played by the same people too. Also, Jeffery Tambor plays Len Trexler, Mallory's love interest after Jackov.

That's what does it for me. The first time through is funny. But going through the second time, you see a lot of the setups and long term jokes that pay off later in the series. Just a very smart, well written show.

Or just get Netflix... The entire series is on there, plus the new episodes come out next year(which are also produced by Netflix).
