Raug the Dwarf: miniflea: LandOfChocolate: Lord Dimwit: mikieb: I tried watching it a few times, but couldn't get into it. Then I read stuff like this, and it makes me sorry I missed all of it. I really have to get the DVDs.

It is really very multi-layered. Jokes upon jokes and constant long-term setups and far-back references. Plus a ton of word play and double-entendres. Really one of the funniest shows ever.

Agreed. The best way to enjoy it is by watching them back to back.

Speaking as someone who just watched every episode for the first time over the course of the past week, THIS. My wife, who is not a native english speaker, watched some of them with me and while she laughed here and there she missed a lot. The best part really is picking up all the tiny subtle plays on words.

When I saw the copier bit mentioned in the article, I couldn't believe they got away with it. Also liked the constant "no, I've taught YOU a lesson" one upsmanship. Also, it was amusing watching this after watching Archer, as Lucille and the secretary (forget her name) are basically the same character.

Played by the same people too. Also, Jeffery Tambor plays Len Trexler, Mallory's love interest after Jackov.

So, basically, it was the Babylon 5 of raunchy sitcoms?

Yeah, I don't know why Farkers or the author of that article are so worked up. I guess when they think "C-Word" is actually a swear word in itself, I guess I can see how they might overreact to the jokes, but this isn't 1975, when these sort of jokes would have scandalized television. Subby and the other shocked farkers might want to avoid Adult Swim and FX if they are that sensitive.

Who's trolling? I made a statement, one that the show admits to on several occasions, he asked a question.

Arrested Development is a farking amazing show, but the fact is not a single one of the characters is really that likeable. Even Michael, who seemingly is supposed to serve as the shows moral compass, is extraordinarily self absorbed.

George Michael's obsession with his first cousin(?) definitely borders on creepy at times.

Michael is overcontrolling with his son whenever George Michael tries to have a life outside of whatever it is Michael thinks they should be doing together. Not to mention, some of his remarks about Ann aree really cruel. Yes, she is bossy and frumpy, but she doesn't deserve some of the nastier comments he has made about her, some even said directly to her mother. There's also his habit of seeing only what he wants to see, while not an "unlikable" trait, caused him to be in denial about his son's crush on his own cousin. Not to mention the whole Mr F debacle.

Whaaa what? He's right. I didn't even think about the Anne stuff. Michael is one of the most overbearing parents probably ever portrayed on TV. Staunchly refusing to let George Michael have a life, or date whoever he wants to date. It was all about what Micheal thought was right for him, and who Michael thought was right for him.

Holy shiat, I never noticed that! Love this show so much. Years later, and after multiple viewings, there are still plenty of surprises like that. Hell, stuff like Henry Winkler hopping over a shark only ever seems to get noticed by word of mouth.
