14 cents per pizza. FOURTEEN CENTS per pizza so that low income workers can afford health insurance.

negligible cost, tangible benefits. And yet....it sends prosperity gospel heretics into convulsions.

How god-awful it must be as a republican to be prevented from admitting the ONE humane thing you have ever done in your life and have to be publicly ashamed of it, if you're allowed to even acknowledge it at all.

It's like the republican voters want their candidate to be the most ugly, stupid, brutal, hated-filled monster possible, with no shred of humanity left within their carcass. Seething with hate and deliberate ignorance of common sense or Reality.

You know, someone just like them.

No, that's just a normal worship service.

Seriously, though - if low-income workers have health insurance, then they won't be sending in a share of their tip money with a request for healing prayer. Of course that freaks out the charlatans.

About four years ago, Republicans said that they'd rather see the country _burn_to_the_ground_ than let Obama have a second term. And Romney's policies are the flamethrower that waits to re-light the blaze that was started by Republicans the last time they had power.

This is what the super-rich are spending $1 billion to force on us, America. Does Romney have your interests at heart? Vote.

Almost every time I have ever heard a politician being interviewed it goes like that, them just vomiting talkingpoints regardless of the questions being asked.

Coco LaFemme: Lando Lincoln: "Let's talk about how awful Obamacare is."

"But it's basically Romneycare put forth to the whole nation."

"But Romney never said that it should be used as a model for the whole nation."

"Yes, he did, on a number of occasions."

"Let's talk about how awful Obamacare is."

An infinite feedback loop of derp. Doesn't matter what you say, what facts you pull up to refute it....it all comes back to the derp. Elton John even wrote a song about it. "It's the circle of derp......"

Reminds me of Rick Perry's defense of abstinence-only education.

"It works."

"I have here studies confirming that abstinence-only education has no effect on teen sexual activity and pregnancy rates, and in some cases it had a negative effect."

"...it works."

gilgigamesh: And really, it isn't Saul's fault.

This is the main issue of the campaign. If Romney's campaign hasn't come up with a complete "Romneycare" set of stock responses drilled into their spokesmen by now, that is almost a criminal level of negligence.

That campaign headquarters must be nothing but staffers running around on fire and screaming at this point.

There isn't a stock response, because they haven't found one that is even close to sticking yet.

So far, the most successful thing right now is to deflect the question and guide the conversation back to Obamacare. Eventually, the interviewers will get told by their producers in their earpiece to move onto something else, since they've got commercials waiting to be played and they want to hit on as many different topics as possible.

xanadian: See, THAT'S how you stay on the talking points you WANT to talk about. Saul f*cked up bad.

The best part is that she wasn't even being asked about Romneycare. She was being asked about an attack ad that was, quite frankly, misleading and over the top. It should have been an easy lob: "This campaign is not going to dignify this kind of reckless slander with a response, except to say that by accusing his opponent of cold blooded murder, the Obama campaign has reached a new, desperate low." The. End.

Instead she managed to trip and set off a nuke somehow.

Endrick: This is Romney running on his record.

Yes.

I was frankly caught a little off guard by the drubbing his spokesperson took yesterday for daring to mention Romneycare in a positive light.

The fact is, he is running for executive office, and Romneycare was his signature achievement in that role. The fact that he has to run away from it in this election is a nearly untenable position for a candidate to be in. You can't trash it, you obviously can't tout it, and the press isn't going to let you ignore it. There is literally no good way to handle this issue, and it is massive.

A massive, elephant-sized albatross that is going to drag this campaign to the bottom of the ocean.

Andrea Saulmade another gaffe a few days ago. After the Boy Scouts announced that gays are still not accepted, Obama made a statement to the effect that he disagrees with their decision. When asked what Romney thinks, Saul responded that Romney "still stands by his support of the Scouts as he noted in a 1994 political debate in Massachusetts."

Romney's stance at that time? "I feel that all people should be able to participate in the Boy Scouts regardless of their sexual orientation."

I'm guessing Romney sings a different tune these days. It's hard to believe she could screw up so much...

If only those people lived in Massachusetts, they would have had health insurance.

I'd rather 80 million poor people be ground up and made into pizza dough than pay 1 cent extra for disgusting pizza with overly sweetened sauce.

It's more like they didn't realize how fragile and unfounded their belief was. The conservative base hates Obamacare. Romney tells people he also hates Obamacare. In order for the base to support Romney that had to convince themselves that what Romney is really saying is that he's going to wholly repeal Obamacare and things will go back to the way they were. In reality, Romney never ran away from Romneycare. He thinks it was a good idea. He hasn't been clear about what he's actually going to do but at best it's a minor tweak of Obama's plan.

The base is used to reading in between the lines to find the message they want. In this case that message has been clearly refuted and now they feel betrayed.

Pretty amazing. This really is the "Get a load of THIS guy" campaign; Romney is never going to win on a 100% "The President sucks" platform. If Kerry couldn't do it against a fairly reviled president then I really doubt this cardboard cutout can pull it off.
