gilgigamesh: The fact is, he is running for executive office, and Romneycare was his signature achievement in that role. The fact that he has to run away from it in this election is a nearly untenable position for a candidate to be in. You can't trash it, you obviously can't tout it, and the press isn't going to let you ignore it. There is literally no good way to handle this issue, and it is massive.

You know, maybe he should just support national health insurance legislation. Or not run for President.

Lumpmoose: DeltaPunch: Andrea Saulmade another gaffe a few days ago. After the Boy Scouts announced that gays are still not accepted, Obama made a statement to the effect that he disagrees with their decision. When asked what Romney thinks, Saul responded that Romney "still stands by his support of the Scouts as he noted in a 1994 political debate in Massachusetts."

Romney's stance at that time? "I feel that all people should be able to participate in the Boy Scouts regardless of their sexual orientation."

I'm guessing Romney sings a different tune these days. It's hard to believe she could screw up so much...

Wow, she specifically went back to 1994? She should know that she can't quote Romney from last week much less 2 decades. By directly referring to every old stance that Romney wants to avoid, she almost seems like a masterful troll.

That's it -- she's a plant! Just a small cog in the diabolical re-election machine that is Obama 2012!

Who's running Romney's campaign? I mean that both incredulously and seriously. Really- who is running it and what experience does he or she have with prior campaigns?

At least the GOP has finally found a purpose.

CNN host Brooke Baldwin: Congresswoman, what are your thoughts on the comments from Mitt Romney's campaign spokeswoman Andrea Saul?
Congresswoman Marsha Blackburn: Two weeks.
CNN host Brooke Baldwin: With all due respect, Congresswoman, we're talking about Mitt Romney. We're talking about a Mitt Romney spokesperson and specifically asking you to react to her comment. We played the sound bite where she is basically saying had this man gone to Massachusetts where he would have had health care, perhaps this would have prevented his wife's death.
Congresswoman Marsha Blackburn: Two weeks.
CNN host Brooke Baldwin: Congresswoman, can you give me a response?
Congresswoman Marsha Blackburn: Two weeks.
CNN host Brooke Baldwin: When are you going to come to my apartment and go down on me?
Congresswoman Marsha Blackburn: [Smiling] Two weeks.

Nah, Bork's just a judicial advisor. The campaign manager is some guy named Michael Rhoades; he's a strategist at the RNC, did opposition research for Bush/Cheney in 2004, and was Romney's Communications Director in 2008.

Now, in my mind, this is evasion. Why should I believe anything that comes out of the Congresswoman's mouth?

Then again I went to college and believe Obama is the only sane adult in Washington these days; but what do I know?

How god-awful it must be as a republican to be prevented from admitting the ONE humane thing you have ever done in your life and have to be publicly ashamed of it, if you're allowed to even acknowledge it at all.

It's like the republican voters want their candidate to be the most ugly, stupid, brutal, hated-filled monster possible, with no shred of humanity left within their carcass. Seething with hate and deliberate ignorance of common sense or Reality.

You know, someone just like them.

But in response to a direct question about Saul's comment, Blackburn changed the subject. "I didn't hear the full interview, and I haven't seen the tweet," she said. "But I can tell you what I know about the Obamacare plan. I know that it has already doubled in cost."

Blackburn continued to roll out anti-Obamacare talking points as Baldwin tried multiple times to interrupt her and steer the conversation back to Romneycare. "With all due respect, Congresswoman, we're talking about Mitt Romney," Baldwin said. "We're talking about a Mitt Romney spokesperson and specifically asking you to react to her comment. We played the sound bite where she is basically saying had this man gone to Massachusetts where he would have had health care, perhaps this would have prevented his wife's death. This has nothing to do with Obamacare."

"But the point remains that Obamacare is what's on the table," Blackburn responded. "And that is what is going to affect Americans. It is what has increased the cost of insurance for all of our small business employers."

Not all Republican voters; just the Teabaggers, the warhawks, the Birchers, and the Norquists of the GOP. What disappoints me is the that moderates of the GOP just avoid wanting to throw down the gauntlet; either that or they do and you just can't hear them over the derpstorm.

Allow me.

The predominately Democrat controlled legislature and people of MA wanted this health care plan.

They still want it.

Whether or not Romney agreed with it as governor. Was it not his duty to do as the people of the state wanted?

It created no new taxes.

The people of the United States didn't want ObamaCare.

They still don't want it.

Obama and the rest of the Democrats could really give a damn what the people wanted or continue to want.

It's going to create a lot of new taxes.

There was an individual mandate, just like in the national version. Maybe Romney didn't call it a "tax" but it was still there and it still did the same thing.

Romney did say that this would be a good model for the nation to use.

The people of the United States definitely do want what's in Obamacare. They just don't like the name.

At this point, there are no longer any "republican moderates" left alive. "republican moderate" is as stupid a phrase as "Compassionate Klansman" or "Humanitarian Torturer".

You're either a part of the mob of psychotic cromags who want to enslave America for the Koch brothers or you're working to stop them.

And don't regard me as extremist or polarizing by saying that. This is by their own rigid standards. Even 99.99999% right wing isn't good enough to these types. It has to 100% 24/7 and this mob demands frequent demonstrations on how "loyal" you are, or else. If you show even the slightest hint of humanity, they'll swarm all over you and eat you alive.

It really is a Hell On Earth to be a republican these days, and what makes it so chilling is that this mob wants to drag us all kicking and screaming into their horrific little world.

About four years ago, Republicans said that they'd rather see the country _burn_to_the_ground_ than let Obama have a second term. And Romney's policies are the flamethrower that waits to re-light the blaze that was started by Republicans the last time they had power.

This is what the super-rich are spending $1 billion to force on us, America. Does Romney have your interests at heart? Vote.

No, that's just a normal worship service.

Seriously, though - if low-income workers have health insurance, then they won't be sending in a share of their tip money with a request for healing prayer. Of course that freaks out the charlatans.

vernonFL: "It is what has increased the cost of insurance for all of our small business employers."

You realize that this is about 1% of the average retail pizza cost.

If I have to pay 1% more on everything so that the majority of Americans can get access to affordable health care - I'll just say that's a cheap price.

However, if you're trying to convince me that your business will vanish over this 1% gross cost increase, then that speaks to the lack of expertise you have as a business person.

It is more likely that the business person wishes to raise prices, make bigger profits, and find someone / something to blame it on - hence the affordable healthcare act attacks.

In short, the business person is a lying scumbag, focused on delivering the minimum amount of effort for the maximum amount of profit.

Hmm - where else have we heard that philosophy? Sounds like a Romney directive to me.

I do... I have to. I have to believe that even though she got on TV and made an ass of herself by absolutely refusing to even talk about the topic of the question, she knew what she was doing was ridiculous, hypocritical, and downright insulting to anyone who might have been listening. She might lie to herself and tell her it's "for the greater good" that she did that, but I think she knows it's not.
