The odd thing is that after all this I am only going to release the absolute minimum I can stuff, he has promised to release his 2011 return when he files it in October.

He is going to reignite the issue one month before the election. Has Matt Rhodes been hitting the bath salts? Or is Romney calling the shots? If he is then what they say about lawyers representing themselves is true for candidates too.

Or Maybe this is just a vanity campaign and Romney doesn't really expect of want to win.

Romney likely wants to win, but not for himself. He's motivated solely by the vast amount of wealth, power, and influence he can dole out to friends and business partners from the WH.

The flaw in your analysis is that Sandra Fluke is too old and too female for Rush Limbaugh to be sexually interested in.

Romney 2012 - "I meet all the minimum legal requirements for a candidate"

2012-08-09 11:13:45 AM
Since this was greenlit, the link to the interview I submitted probably won't be so I'll just repeat myself here: If you read between the lines, basically Romney is saying that the famous picture of him and his buddies brandishing the dollar bills was taken to reflect the wonder they felt the first time they realized they could induce people to give them unlimited sums of money using nothing more than voodoo and bullshiat.

The man's a wonder.

Lost Thought 00: Romney 2012 - "I meet all the minimum legal requirements for a candidate"

He honestly doesn't seem to grasp the fact that we prefer to hold our candidates for the highest office in the greatest nation on Earth to a higher standard than "I am not a criminal". Of course, it's doubtful that he has even met that standard.

2012-08-09 11:17:54 AM
I'm not a business. We have a process in this country, which was established by law, which provides for the transparency which candidates are required to meet. I have met with that requirement ...

Translated: I've met the minimum, legal requirements to be President of the United States, and should not have to go above and beyond that for the people I would represent.

2012-08-09 11:18:31 AM
Since he doesn't want to be looked at as "a business", maybe the country shouldn't be run as a business....

2012-08-09 11:18:56 AM
Mitt Romney is capable of holding an infinite number of contradictory policy positions, so at any given time, his comments are 50% true and 50% false immediately before he verbally states them.

The best part (forever) is that whenever he tries to invoke other people to support his lack of transparency, they are always people who lost the elections they were running for (John McCain, John Kerry, Shannon O'Brien, etc). Sure, dumbass, hold yourself to John McCain's standards. We'll in turn hold you to John McCain's electoral college results.

2012-08-09 11:22:35 AM
And about his time at Bain: "You lose your money and people can lose jobs. That's always devastating. And I learned that not every business will be successful when people lose jobs, you get more money."

2012-08-09 11:23:36 AM
The sad part is, he is, in fact, a business. All rich people are their own personal business, allowing them to take tax write offs for what would be normal living expenses.

There may be a flaw in logic here. Maybe Romney does think that corporations are people and people are corporations... but Romney being a robot is neither.

If "corporations are people", then why aren't they punished equivalently when they break the law? Since one cannot throw a corporate entity into prison or give them the death penalty, shouldn't we then force them to cease all operations for some period of time? Point being, how can corporations be people if they are not faced with the same consequences for moral/ethical malfeasance that individuals are?

And if such a concept would be impractical (after all, such action could result in thousands of ACTUAL people losing jobs), is that not then an argument to do away with the whole legal concept of "corporations are people"? Because otherwise, they're not just people, they're people with rights that go well beyond those of actual people.

I'm beginning to wonder if Romney believes in anything. It seems like he just kinda wanders through life advocating whatever benefits him and his class the most at the time without any concern as to whether or not his logic makes any sense at all.
Corporations are people, but only when it comes to the benefits. The limitations of being a "person" only apply to the commoners. It boggles the mind as to how so many poor white people (of which I am one) can be down with such a flagrant rape of their class.

Well they are people, but they aren't citizens. So Corporations are illegal aliens, and (according to my father in law) in America Illegal Aliens get free housing, food, healthcare, and education. They have it good. I'd like to find where you sign up for this free stuff. I'll hide my I.D. and say I'm illegal. Easy life here I come.

He could be using the corporate power and wealth to further the interests of the Mormon church. He will take away our beer and alcohol, force us to keep Sunday a day of worship and no work. Before you get excited about that one remember you couldn't get drunk Saturday night and there are no longer sports on Sunday. In exchange for giving these up we will be given some biblical fan fiction and be allowed to marry our daughters cute 12 year old friends.

...have provided and will provide a full two years of tax returns.

Does he really think we don't notice he's lying? What, he's going to provide that second year retroactively?

Or will it be like last week, when ABC News asked him if he'd paid a lower tax rate than the 13.9% we know about, he said he'd be happy to look in to that, and then he blew it off?

Oh, and for the Captain Obvious brigade: yes, there are other things to object to in the interview.

sprawl15: "I have met with that requirement with full financial disclosure of all my investments, but in addition have provided and will provide a full two years of tax returns. "

He has met the legal requirements for disclosure (the same kind that Clarence Thomas for years avoided listing his wife's lobbying activity on, or the kind where Congress was getting sweetheart mortgage deals), has released a single year of tax returns, and plans to release an additional year's worth in October (as soon as he retroactively un-runs for President, making RONPAUL the Mondale favorite).

Or, "it's confusingly-worded prose meant to make you think Romney is in line with disclosure expectations, when in reality, even his father would be digging through his file cabinets (turnabout being fair play and all) looking for those returns".

Maybe he's into that kind of thing. Most masochists have to save up money to hire a woman to beat them in private, while Romney is getting other people to fund his beating by the whole world.
