Stupid Sesame Street INS... They deported Rosita, Luis, and Maria, didn't they?

Remember the old days when it was safe to walk down Sesame Street at night?
Good times, good times.

Wait, that was an entirely different show.

I recommend the name 'Poochie'

Makes sense--growing Latino population means change in our Sesame Street characters. There will be conservative outrage, right?

My son would love this, but he's twelve, but maybe they won't suspect since he's 6' tall

Yes he is, and he's a very nice person.

I recommend Zeta and El Chapo, the lovable Mexican-narco roommates. This week, they have an argument about who's responsible for the dismembered body in the bath tub. "Have you been keeling in your sleep again, El Chapo?"

Sesame Street's new Latino character should be one that is an illegal and has to hide every time ICE come by and watch the other characters try to hide him before he is caught. Maybe his name could be Elian. The amount of skits could be priceless. Oscar hiding him in the can. Ernie pulling Elian between him and Bert under the bed covers.

And when Bert and Ernie are on camera, Ellan would be in the shot on his knees with his back to the camera. The music soundtrack goes "One of these is not like the others...."

They can base the character on the fine young, muscular, tatoo covered, latino chap who sat on the subway yesterday and blasted his goddam rap music on his pathetic little smartphone.

What I want to know is why Rosita the monster doesn't wear any clothes! She's always hanging around with Zoe the monster, and the two of them are very similar in fur and build, yet Zoe has a full little-girl outfit and Rosita does not. Is Rosita just running around naked all the time and no one mentions it, or does Zoe just wear clothes as an affectation?

Bert and Ernie are replaced by Bertina and Ernestine. Same characters but they are finally comfortable with who they are.

As a side note, I am amazed at how much disproportionate public broadcasting attention is paid to teaching kids to speak Spanish.

I understand there are a lot of Spanish speakers. I understand that they want to retain culture and have their kids speak Spanish.

But this is an English speaking country and I disagree with ongoing attempts to make it a bilingual country. Teach your kids Spanish at home. Enroll your kids in Spanish classes. Take all of the effort you want to raise bilingual kids. But don't expect the rest of the country to become bilingual.

And if I decide my kid should be bilingual let me decide if I want him to speak French, or Mandarin or one of another myriad of languages beside Spanish. Don't co-op my choice in the matter by diverting tax dollars to Spanish-language-promoting hijacking of English language childrens programs.

Sesame Street and The Muppets are owned by different companies, Sesame Workshop and Disney, and there's some bad blood between them.

God, I hope you're farking joking, right?

*Sigh* you're not, I know you're not. FWIW Dora and Digeo aren't "Public." And as much as I hate myself for asking this, any chance you want to list the "disproportanate amount of attention placed on teaching kids to speak spanish?" Because I have a 21 month old son and we pretty much watch Sprout and the like all day, so I know from an all too familiar place just how full of shiat you are.

Please just tell me you're trolling and restore my faith in humanity.

My understanding is that Sesame Street in the US gets little or no tax money support any more. They pretty much rely on PBS contributions as well as licensing. This is why you see way more Sesame Street Licenced merchandise than you did even 10 years ago.

Explain to us non-droolers how teaching kids a few basic words of Spanish prevents your kids from also learning an increasingly useless language like French.

I live in bilingual nation (Canada) - Even though 1/4 Canadians speaks French I live in Western Canada and have probably only met 7 of them in my whole life. Quick boring history, many redneck Canadians often say things like "We let the French keep their language" and other nonsense. Fact was at the time, most of the people in Canada spoke French - and they had the nerve to just keep on speaking it. English Canada tried, but they actually didn't have the power to in fact assimilate the larger population in the region - because they were so concentrated in one place. So where French is spoken to this day, its the majority who speak it. So bilingualism in my country is just recognizing a fact.

I have visited the United States before, I don't know if they realize it there, but they are in serious denial of the plain fact that they are bilingual. Pretty much every single place I went, restaurants, grocery stores had people (staff) speaking both English and Spanish as necessary. Denying Spanish in America looks pretty unpractical to me and insisting that the growing population of Spanish speaking people convert to English - seems unlikely to me. I'm sure English is still the most spoken language in the USA, but in certain growing parts Spanish is probably bigger.

anyway ...continue with the myth that America is an English speaking country. /getting kick out of replies etc. :P

Is there any way we can change this to a hot actresses who are on Sesame street thread? I watch it with my daughter all the time, and that Indian lady who works in the laundry is super attractive. Plus there was even an episode I saw recently where Natalie Portman was working in Hooper's Store.

Because no human being could possibly speak any more than two languages. As soon as you beginning trying to learn a third (even if it's only a few words) one of the other two gets pushed right out of your head.
