But they'll still throw any old reality crap on the air.

Time for the big 4 networks to contemplate dying. All the good shows are on cable, anyway.

Why do we even have pilots anymore? Or focus groups? Assuming it isn't like B grade and low production value bad, just order a couple episodes, toss that shiat up on the web, order some cheap intern to try to promote on social media or get some clip to go viral as a reddit meme. See what actually does take off and order more.

Only for two seasons.

I know it's going to be terrible, but I'm going to give it a shot anyhow. I expect the setting to not make any sense, the characters to be "The Walking Dead"-level stupid, and the acting to be horrible. I just wish there could be some decent sci-fi on TV.

I think it has something to do with the lack of electricity.....though why they can't turn to solar, geothermal, wind or water to power things, I'm not sure.

Cancelled my cable a few months ago and have never been happier. Bought a set of HDTV rabbit ears to tide me over, but haven't used them once. Then again, with Demonoid gone, it's a bit more difficult to find my TV shows with the commercials stripped out.

I see this show and I think FlashForward. There is a lot of potential in the story line but history tells us that to maximize profits and viewers it will end up being written and marketed by middle management focus groups.

They don't have electricity- as in, electricity no longer works on Earth, when it comes to powering mechanical devices, anyway. That was pretty obvious from the trailer. Yeah, the guy uses a computer at the end of it, but it looks like he has that special "jewel" thing and is in league with the people (or whatever) that originally made electricity stop working.

It's an interesting premise, I guess. But the show looks terrible. The "big three" networks can't do sci-fi shows well. They are too scared of alienating the dumb members of their audience.

Erm, I'll disagree with you there. Drama fills more time cheaper than plot development. As long as that's the case you will never ever find good quality scifi on television.

I am just curious as to why electricity doesn't work in the show. Vacuum tubes and electro magnets are easy for even the layperson to understand and make and should help rebuild to some level.

Not to mention that idea that electricity just "Doesn't work anymore" would mean one of the fundamental forces of nature stopped working and would have all kinds of repercussions for everything from gravity to our brain

Odds are they explain it with aliens or terrorists. It is always one of those two.

The last few seasons of the original show, with the new cast, were pretty damn good. If nothing else, it was fun watching Jack McCoy tell Cutter "yeah, I know I did this highly unethical, borderline illegal thing in the past that you now want to do. But you can't. Do as I say, not as I do."

Yeah, there were good moments, but the show overall felt very flat. I think going through 90-billion ADAs didn't help. Also seeing Jerry Orbach clearly getting sicker as the show progressed was heartbreaking.

The first time I saw the commercial for it, I thought it was a parody commercial by something like SNL. I figured there was no way it was a real show. To make it even more depressing, that damn monkey will be making $12,000 per episode. If the show gets a full season, that ends up being over $260,000.

Theoretically, I know how to make black powder. Realistically, where do I find sulfur and saltpeter? It might actually be easier to make gun cotton out of old clothing by raiding a few Ace Hardwares for nitric and sulfuric acid.

I hear the first part of the season has a lot of flashback's to Dean's Adventures in Purgatory. He also befriends someone there. (Which I guess makes more sense than Castiel making any friends there, recent history considered.)

I like that it's more of a physical location than Hell. They could do a lot with Hell as a concept and destination but with Purgatory they can actually set scenes there.

Should be good stuff.

Sulfer would be the hard one. Slatpeter can be made from your own urin and ash. But if you have access to bulk chemicals for gun cotton then you can also make saltpeter.

I can believe people using a bow vs making their own gunpowder though. The amount of energy needed to create gunpowder (in a tribal setting) is going to be much more than gunpower is going to provide over a bow. 100 manhours to make to save 20 hours of hunting time.... just don't add up.

As a father to a 9 months old baby I can tell you it's not that simple. I haven't watched the promo to see exactly how hard they make it seem but changing a baby while he's twisting around and trying to climb onto anything that he can grab while I'm trying to wipe the poop off his butt without getting it all over the bed or changing pad is not easy nor simple. Hell, even my wife and the women from daycare complain about it at times.

On top of that, it's a real skill to be able to change a diaper without waking up the baby in the middle of the night and a failure ends up with 45-60 minutes of more playtime before he's ready for sleep again.

ddam: As a father to a 9 months old baby I can tell you it's not that simple.

As a father of a 4 year old, all I can tell you is learn to do it quicker.

/avg under 5 seconds for number 1, 10 seconds for number 2 (depending on consistency).

Hmm... I'm seeing a market for something similar to a dishwasher with a cut-out for baby's head so they can still breath.

Oh, you DO know the "have the next diaper in position under the current diaper" trick, right?

And now I'm picturing a sport like diaper-change rodeo.

I think something is wrong with my brain today.

I actually sometimes used to do the rodeo-hands-in-air when done thing...

/Was that wrong?

Continuum is pretty cool, give it a whirl if you havethe chance.

Just happy that Grimm got a 2nd season, expecting some payoffs and a little arc-ness.

PsyLord: I'm here also to rage against "reality" tv shows. Seriously, how did she get a show of her own?!?!

TLC needs to be nuked from orbit for all the crap that they keep putting on their channel.

I may go to Hell for saying this but that girl is not cute and she's creepy. She looks like a creepy doll I would hide in a bin with something heavy places on top just to make sure she would not come alive and go all Chucky on me.

I'm happy as well. I'm also happy that Once Upon a Time got a 2nd season

It really needs to shift to more fantasy instead of "Law and Order: Fairy Tale Victim's Unit". For a while there I thought the Grimm's power was "Being punched in the head and living".
